I’m only going on second or third hand info here, but apparently he just never got a tank. Not sure if he was actually lazy or just one of those people with a low cardio fitness ceiling, but he just never improved his engine, and inside mid is a pretty demanding position in that department.

Parish coming along was the nail in his coffin. But he is still a very good inside mid that other teams should look at

Dissapointing that he couldnt lock down a role as a big bodied inside mid when we were absolutely desperate for one.

Although I will remember fondly that small period when he became a sensation as a tagger, giving Cripps a massive bath.

He will be good in the vfl. Could play alongside his best mate, big boi begley with frankston

Are we forgetting Kyle “eight goals” Reimers?

Or Marc “handball to Hird” Bullen???

Ian Marsh was a reasonably handy player back in his day…played 68 games before he had to have heart surgery and never got back to his best after that.

Looking at a club like Norf, with Cunnington under a cloud, and getting older to boot, they will need a replacement. It seems to me that Dylan has the same basic attributes as Cunnington. Not a particularly good kick, not particularly fast, but a hard fit ball winner. But of course Dylan has a long way to go to get to Cunnington levels, given that he has only played 24 AFL games.

Which is why they pinched Hugh Greenwood from GC.

That’s why they nicked Greenwood off GC i would have thought. There was a lot of the big physical inside type players change hands this off-season. Dylan was, unfortunately, the one that was left without a seat when the music stopped.

Hallelujah someone else can see this. This is spot on. Kicking Efficiency stats are a waste of time. The truth is:

  • Clarke could tackle, harass, contest, tag and win the ball in tight.

But how many times did people see him

  • take a handball receive and provide overlap run?
  • take a mark in space and actually play on?
  • run on to his non preferred side?
  • have the ball in space and stream forwards?

The guy had to feel perfectly balanced to even take an easy short option. Even so, twice in the practise game he kicked the ball less than 15m and the kick was called play on, including one particular howler to Fejo when he was in the fwd pocket.

The fact he stayed on the list so long is a testament to his character and other playing attributes because his ability to be an attacking weapon was close to 0. He wouldn’t play 50 games at any club in the afl because he just didn’t develop the confidence to move the ball when not perfectly set and balanced,

Would be a good leader in the VFL.

Nothing but the best of luck to the fella.

Good luck to Clarke. Should never have been one of the SSP’s because I honestly don’t feel the club had any intention of selecting him.

Dylan is a lot closer to a player like Dumont who North let walk to Port for nothing. I have to believe they don’t rate that type of player & couldn’t possibly see Clarke as an upgrade or replacement.

If that is true it is disingenuous by the club, however they might have done him a favour, making that performance available on replay for other clubs to see. He was actually one of the better players on the day and collected a lot of possessions as a midfielder.

I feel for him but probably the correct decision.

Played a good part in making farkcarlton sack another coach. Love ya Dyl, stick around.

He had four seasons and failed to nail down a spot in a bang average midfield during that time

We now have a very, very good midfield with numerous players who can not only play Dylan’s role but in all honesty, play it better. (Caldwell, Snelling, Durham, McGrath, Hobbs.)

Seems like a great kid and of course we all feel his disappointment but think of the dozens of players who have passed through the club without the luxury of four seasons to prove yourself.

I don’t think Dylan has been disrespected or unfairly overlooked. I applaud the club for giving the boy as many chances to prove himself as possible.

Good luck for the future.
