Martin’s delivery forward and smarts is so good, frees us up I think if we want to play Merrett from say the half back line.(which would be very dangerous - given his elite ball use).
Must play a role in the forward line. 50/50 forward/wing split?
He has terrific natural forward instincts and is a clean user. Would have been nice if those skills were on display early in his career. We could have, you know, played him forward more this whole goddamn time instead of wasting this talent by playing him in defence.
But we weren’t to know.
I’m surprised his ‘Defensive Half %’ and ‘Forward Half %’ only adds up to 100, because from what I can see, Nick Martin covers the earth

Only on the ground for 1 quarter and had the most spoils (4) and equal most 1%ers (4). There is a lot to like about this guy.

If anyone is our Unicorn it’s this guy, 192cm Mid/Hf with elite running/aerobic capacity.
Going out on a small limb and will say that Nic will be our best player by end of year and will be rated in the top 20 players in the league.
About to take the competition by storm and extremely pleased to see him in the leadership group.

They will have to put him in there top 50 next year after a good result in the Brownlow. Umpires notice him.
So good to have a bloke that’s 6’4" that has the polish and goal sense of a small forward.
Now that he’s being played in an optimal role the rest of the comp is about to sit up and take notice

We need him on the HBF. We were at our best last year when he was on the HBF.
We need 5-10 of him, not much else would really matter it seems
