Yeah agreed. We already know he can do well in that possie so moving him might be a circuit breaker. It is worth a try.
On ball/half back
He was looking A grade when playing the inside mid role for a few weeks, even Montagna and king were lauding the move saying he must stay there, so ever since… brad seems to have moved him around and he can’t get settled. Actually i think it was parish coming back for a few weeks moved him outta that position.
Honestly, put your best players right on the ball as much as possible, him, merrett, caldwell and durham could he a really great centre square combo, then fill around it, not use their versatility to plug holes over the ground and have lesser players right at the coal face.
He only really played that role for 1 game when Merrett played defence and Durham had a bit of an injury and was playing up forward. Yesterday was the second highest percentage of CBAs he’s had this year.
I thought it was 2 or 3 but i may be wrong. It was the best he looked anyway so should be persisted with as much as possible.
He was playing really well without the on ball time for the few weeks around that Brisbane game that he did play mainly on ball.
The James Hird ‘go wherever the hell you want’ role.
Yeah i just remember first crack doing a thing on him lauding the move and an interview on radio with him saying how he worked hard on his inside game across the pre season to play there more. Regardless, as they said on first crack he needs to be centre forward where he does the most damage, they even showed clips how when playing that inside mid role he anticipates a turnover and gets on his bike to score. So seeing the numbers above of 60% defensive half possessions is another strange coaching move.
He gets back and defends even when he’s playing forward. That game against Brisbane that he played mostly on ball he was 57% in defensive half and he has similar numbers in some of his other better games.
Prefer him on the outside.
The ‘Ethical’ position…
Did it look bad?
Didn’t look like anything tbh
Ffs it just gets better doesn’t it
looked so innocuous, like the type of ‘injury’ a senior player at the local club uses that moment to call quits on the season with.
Probably an acl then
How can it be a knee. Landed on his backside.
Knee hit fence
Looked like he drove his knee into that harder bit outside the turf
