No. The ligament restricts certain directions of movement.
Rupture the ligament, can move the knee in a certain direction, confirms a tear.
At least that’s my recollection from anatomy lectures over a decade ago. Could be wrong.
Yeah without knowing the specific details it’s really easy to test for with some movements
