Bourke is such an intriguing prospect. One of the most gifted athletes I have seen. Huge task for the club to now develop him. It will look very ugly in his first 8-10 VFL games but hopefully he can just keep building. I spoke to him for 10 mins at the Hall of Fame. Lovely natured guy. He is a very confident athlete…I mean really confident. He told me he has zero doubt he will make it and will work his ass off to do so. Being only age 19 is the key. Even if it takes two years to develop…he is then just 21. Some of the things he was doing in pre-season though was pretty special…in terms of athletic traits. The boy is super quick….actually reminds me a little of Crameri. Strong big, bodied build but jumps high and runs so fast. Almost perfect AFL physical attributes….now to just make him a footballer.

Out of interest did you need subtitles or could you understand him unlike Conor?

Actually, I personally found him easier to understand than previous Irish boys

I don’t mind the idea of developing him as a defender, he has the size and athleticism to go with a lot of the powerful smalls and mediums.
It seems the easier position for the Irish kids to learn.
But finding him a role that he can focus on is the key.
Then as seen with Mullin, you can redeploy as a defensive midfielder

Which county is he from?
Counties from Munster and Ulster provinces are tougher to understand I’d think, whereas Leinster counties aren’t too bad.

He’s essentially McKenna but bigger, stronger and faster.
possibly able to play on the strong mid forwards in a year or two like De-Goey and Petracca etc.
Will be good to have Redman out there in his first match directing him.
