It’s not just about the skills, a lot of the intercepted kicks against Geelong were only fractions off perfect. It was more they were too short and too a player that was being defended. Geelong were constantly finding players in space over greater distances. That’s more a coaching, fitness, experience thing in my opinion.
Yeah that’s fair
Clearly Brad needed him to get less of the ball this week so when he brings in Redman next game less people will complain.
I’ve not seen the poor defending that a lot of people are talking about.
I think Clarke has been much worse defensively yet no one really brings that up.
I’ve watched Clarke not go with his man or refuse to run into a marking hole half a dozen times already.
Not that I’m worried about either of them but just something I have observed.
yep Johnson been solid. who knows why the role change last week, for starters Z johnson kicking out from goal is miles better than whatever McGrath offers bringing the ball in and running into trouble then hack kicking it.
Prior was also good this week.
so scott likely does drop zak.
for me it would be out Duursma, Gresham, Hobbs, Blakiston
in: Reid, Ridley, Durham, Redman
could make a good argument to drop Perkins too (for McMahon) but seems unlikely from Brad.
Clarke moves back to wing. (for Duursma)
Roberts becomes defence/wing relief
Reid replaces Blakiston
Durham for Hobbs
Redman for Gresham
Redman can come back as sub
b: McGrath Reid Laverde
hb: Prior Ridley Johnson
c: Clarke Durham Lual
hf: Martin May Merrett
f: Kako Caddy Wright
r: Vissentini Setterfield Caldwell
int: Roberts, Guelfi, Parish, Perkins
sub: Redman
i can’t see anyone from the VFL making their way in.
Really?
He should been dropped a week or two ago.
This young fella will be out at my boys U10 footy training tonight… Good to hear him getting around!
Sounds like he knew of only Essendon and West Coast being into him prior to the draft. Found that pretty interesting knowing what we know about his ability now.
I’ve missed a few halves/quarters of games recently, and with a bit going on last few haven’t kept up with replays…
If I was to catch a few quarters on replay, what would some of the better ones be to get a sense of the excitement/promise around this guy that comes across in this thread?
Probably the Brissy game, if you could get on the Kayo Mini that’d probably be a good shout
Cheers mate!
Hes such a great kick. But his defensive work was poor today.
Just get the ball in his hands.
Centred the ball beautifully from the wing in the lead up to Mays first goal
I only saw the first half, and I thought some of his defensive stuff looked decent. It seems to me that his biggest issue is that he’s not strong enough at this point. But he’s still a kid and that will come with time.
Generally speaking, how’d he go today?
Hopefully this kid doesn’t get dropped for Redman.
He’s a ripper.
We need to find a way to get the Sherrin into his hands at least 25 -30 times a game.
You mean shift from HB to the midfield?
He just doesn’t much around with the ball like Andy- spots a target straight ahead and drills it.
He was in two minds in the third when Rowell’s kick caught him out and they marked straight in front. He was protecting the 20 metre zone but Rowell spotted Zak’s opponent drifting away from him and he couldn’t make up the ground.
Only 18 and lots to work on.
He’s very good for having missed a chunk of preseason, is very young and played only a handful of games.
Seems very composed and good skills.
Lots of potential.
