#40 - Zak Johnson

Disagree. Shiel has proven that he is no good.

Shiel needs a few games in his half back role first, but could be managed as sub throughout the year.

My issue with him as sub last year was it was off playing vfl and coming back from injury so hard for him to get up to speed, make an impact and didn’t fully trust his body.

Would be different from a 7 game stretch then a week as sub.

AS one of our teachers used to contemptuously call them…the school that calls itself after a street.

He’s proved he’s no good at seeing into the midfield as a sub. He could have an impact at half just using his pace potentially. I’m not opposed to trying it, especially if it buys more minutes for seh or Rogers or Johnson at half back

Shiel just turned 32 actually. He’s a total pro, so could easily see Shiel playing a few more years if he can stay healthy. But given his injury history, I am not certain that will happen

He’s kinda like Durham whereby he just moves like a footballer with a lot of potential. The perfect body shape for a mid.

It won’t be at Essendon.

Disagree. He’s proven he’s not as good as Blitzers want, and has some limitations. Played plenty of good football with us and GWS.

Shiel just wasn’t the right fit for us. His flaws just got magnified in our midfield.

Or horrible management of injuries has probably not done him much help either

Yes, I agree. Think he has been good for periods. Was actually having a bit of a laugh with the statement prior. Poor humour. My preference is we move past him, but deserves his opportunity.
