When El Hawli came in as a sub in his first game he seemed to really know his role and was great to see him get some touches of the footy.
Good play and good coaching.
Hope he is used for a full game soon

Or inside the Hangar watching the game.
Iāve been there a handful of times during VFL games and most players stay in the lounge there and go out to the balcony from time to time. The assistant coaches are usually there going through the various vision (behind goal + broadcast) and making their comments. Once done, itās available in Team Viewer, so players can view this from their mobile device, but most of them prefer going through it with the assistants after a training / cool down session in the Hangar.
Thereās usually a handful of players who attend. Most players with families donāt attend for obvious reasons. Players who are considered āfringeā players are more likely to show up.
From my 5 times there, the most common experienced player Iāve noticed who has attended is McGrath and Hep more often than not. I think Iāve only seen Merrett once, but Iām sure heās been there when I havenāt. Make of that what you will.
In general, more players turn up when the VFL game is played at Port Melbourne.
A lot happens that we just donāt see.
I wouldnāt look into these things too much.
You reckon brad wonāt drop him the first chance he gets with his favorite Perkins and also tsatas available? Or heāll have him as sub again and the first time he doesnāt rip the game open, heāll go back to the vfl. Iām predicting heāll be treated exactly like Massimo, donāt ask me why, i think itās coz theyāre similar players, mid season pick, jack of all trades types.
I hear you and appreciate the view you get. I will take it as a nice positive moment that he was sitting down there with the guys on the bench and leave it at that.
El Hawli is a role player and is doing that role exceptionally well.
Same with Tsatsas and Perkins but they arenāt competing with him for a spot.
Their competition would be in the midfield.
Itās definitely a positive.
I just wouldnāt go over the top with it.
Thereās a good chance heās there because heās filling in km of running at the club because he was sub the recent game. So itās convenient for him. Or maybe he did his extra running after the VFL game when everyone left.
Some sub players do it directly after their AFL game so that their KMs are logged on the GPS with our staff, others do it through the weekend. Some do it at a park near where they live. Others do it at the club on their own. Some others do it at the club with a trainer there to help guide them through it (usually GPS monitored) and can also follow it up with a cooldown / rubdown session afterwards from our physios who would be there for VFL as well.
Itās great that heās there.
I just wouldnāt be reading too much into it. One way or the other.
So who goes out when those two come back in the side, so itās effectively 3 spots needed in the starting line up to allow Perkins, tsatas and seh into the starting 22.
Iām not sure Tsatsas and Perkins are automatic inclusions.
And neither would be as good as el Hawli in the position he plays.
Iād assume that Tsatsas is probably being groomed for Shiels spot in the best 22.
Perkins? No idea. Hard to tell from the TV
I agree but Perkins is a long term brad favourite and tsatas is a new favourite due to all the work heās been putting in. Thatās why i think el hawli will see himself out of the side shortly, as much as i donāt wanna see it.
They all play different roles. Maybe Perkins and Tsatsas compete.
El Hawli is more likely to be competing with McGrath, Prior etc for a small defenders spot.
It may be Roberts v SEH in the end. Otherwise the inevitable hamstring from Duursma.
Was able to have a quick chat with Saadās dad this morning. Obviously very proud and excited and was quick to point out that Saad āchanged the gameā when he came on. Said heās enjoying it at EFC and has worked very hard. Left off with the request to ākeep supporting himā.
Really nice guy, but I forgot to ask about the pronunciation of their surname.
You had one job, Touchedonthelineā¦!
Worst kick?
Nailed it already

You had one job. (Whoops, sorry @Albert_Thurgood , you beat me to it. )
Seriously, it would have been a great chat with his Dad so pumped. They sound like a very close and loving family. Hope you told him weāre all just as excited to watch his son make his mark.
Oh yeah, it absolutely was. Put me in a really good humour just before I left for work.
Why do you hate Tsatas so much?
Tsatas for Caldwell
Perkins for Edwards
Saad for Prior/Menzie
