I just don’t see McGrath moving to the midfield. I don’t think it’s needed or necessary at all.

Feels like we would be robbing Peter to pay Paul doing that, duurs is one of the best wings in the game and Roberts excelled off half back I love Nguyen but he probably plays off the bench
yeah maybe, just going off reports of duursma playing at half forward today. certainly his defensive work rate would be asset there and he’s more durable than guelfi

Not sure if I agree. Definitely prefer Nguyen’s upside as a hard as nails shut down small defender (ask Tom Papley) which leaves McGrath somewhat in limbo if he doesnt run through the midfield.
I like Nguyen but he’s still very young and inexperienced. Even spending 2026 as a lockdown in the VFL would be great for his development and hunger

I hope you’re right but regardless I can’t see him coming straight into the team unless a new role is found for McGrath as captain I guess. Can’t play two undersized lockdown defenders
They’re not undersized when they’re playing on small forwards lol
That does read a bit daft. I meant to say, it’s rare for a team to play two lockdown small defenders, as one would typically undersized on a medium/general forward.
I don’t think hunger is ever going to be a problem for Nguyen, I hope he doesn’t have to play another vfl game again.

Things may change but I just don’t see them moving McGrath to accommodate Nguyen and not sure they should myself.
I like Jayden and looking forward to seeing further development this season, but just not sure where he fits into B22 at the moment.
Moving McGrath into mids also takes minutes away from our other youngsters in there. I’d rather see Sharp, Tastas given midfield roles with McGrath playing back than one of these moved out to accommodate Nguyen with Andy moving to midfield.
Will be interesting how his season unfolds. Depth is a good thing though.
