#43 Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti - WALLA MACCA TIPPA - joining Tiwi Bombers

Even if this is the case I think it will be a valuable year in helping and guiding Munkara and the Davey’s in their first year.

But still hoping he hits some form for the later part of the year

He’s been nowhere near it at any point since he announced his return. He remains miles off it. If he plays a couple more games this season I’d be surprised. He will quietly retire at the end of the season.

I think that’s why he came back, maybe a bit for himself but mainly to support Munkara.

Whatever alex troll

Ok thanks.

Wait…so he isn’t a chance to be sub on Anzac Day? :smiling_face_with_tear:

From here, if he really wants this, his mission has to be to work his tail off to get to the point where he can capably run out 4 quarters at AFL intensity where he can be a weapon offensively as well as reliably contribute sustained defensive pressure (the harder part).

In all likelihood, that is still probably a couple of months away.

The good thing is, in Davey, Menzie, Snelling, Guelfi when he comes back, we have enough cover to allow Tippa to quietly get to work and come up to the mark.

Bar perhaps Davey who is a pup, Tippa has all of these guys covered easily in terms of class, skill and natural ability so of course it would be awesome if this can work and he can be a strong contributor in the back half of the season.

I don’t know if playing as the sub is the best path right now in terms of getting him to where he needs to get to.
You still want your sub to ideally be a guy who is physically prepared to play near on 4qtrs as well because you never quite know if you’re going to cop an injury really early on.

100% he’s nowhere near the required level!

Get him right for the end of the year, could win us a final if fit, now that would be a story and a half.

Sad but true.

I happened to be at the Sandringham oval on Tuesday. Surface was sub local football ground standard.

The ground the Calder Canons play at is much higher standard.

Yep there is a big drop off from AFL grounds to VFL grounds.

Once they re do windy hill that should be better for fans than standing in the rain at the hangar.

My boy played in the 16 year olds TAC futures program. Some of the private school grounds are on par with The Hangers playing areas.

probably similar in tassie
Private school footy ovals better than most of the country footy grounds (no where near hangar though)

I reckon getting 4 disposals, two scoring shots including a goal, 3 scoring assists in one quarter is OK.

If he did 16 disposals in a game, and kicked 4 goals it would be second to only the game vs Brisbane where he had 16 disposals and kicked 7.

Sub would be lovely.
He has the reputation and skills to match to instil sheer panic in the filth at the end of the game.
Imagine the lift if it’s a tight tussle!

That said, I don’t imagine he’ll get a call up.

On Sunday it was a splash pool.

The weekend’s score supports it not being rotten…

He’s not there yet, but I think it’s silly to write him off for the year.
Every VFL game and week of training is going to get him closer to AFL match fitness.
His talent is not a question.
There’s a big difference between round five and round fifteen.

The guy is a legit danger of kicking four goals as a small forward.
Trust the process.

Yep, staying injury-free and disciplined with his diet/fitness is the challenge.

5 weeks until Dreamtime, I actually reckon he’ll be around the mark for selection by then if he keeps building. :muscle:t2:
