Tex needs to get himself fitter then
Wow this is a fascinating turn of events
Maybe it’s part of BDB starting to weigh in on the list. And deciding to cut players early who he knows won’t make it under his system.
From what I saw in the VFL I think Munny was at least another 2 or 3 pre seasons away from AFL, he had very little influence on the play, despite showing some incredible glimpses when he got the ball, we need players who show up for 4 Quarters, not 4 minutes.
People were creaming themselves when the words ‘hard decisions’ came about, unfortunately maybe this may be one of them
delisting a category b upside project player after a year is not a hard call, not giving heppell is a hard (and the right) call, shooting kelly into the sun, is a hard but right call, finding a trade to get shiel off the list is a hard but right call. trading parish/free agency compo is a hard but probably right call.
delisting kids under 20 because reasons is a weak dog call
I wonder whether he has the burning desire to play and live away from hometown.
Great to finally see the club show sone professionalism! Tippa and Stringer should never have played in their condition.
Reading from afar in Zurich about Munkara likely leaving & Baldwin not offered a contract as yet. Always concerned with them two hitting targets so much😀Simply not linked to our core values. Get me high characters nice guys that cant kick while playing a high possession uncontested brand
Well, there goes that dream.
“Essendon’s NGA product was selected in the
rookie draft. Munkara screams X-factor and is
a long-term project for the club. Touted as an
immense talent, Essendon supporters should
keep an eye on the medium forward as he
develops this season” EFC app.
Can’t believe Munny is potentially #7 out the door. Well, at least we know a long term project for EFC is now precisely 12 months.
Nuts. …
Have you heard anything? You’d let us know if you had right?
Where is this official?
The guy averages 6.5 disposals in the VFL. It’s not a hard call, it’s an easy one. Roll the dice on another kid in his spot.
But it was known when drafted that he was Mike’s off it and a 3-4 year project player.
It was a complete free hit and I’d be staggered and disguised we have given up on him after 1 yeae
Even for developing players you need to set targets. You don’t just give them a 3 year free run.
I was hoping for hard decisions not dumb decisions
I’ve received an enormous amount of interest asking if I have heard anything from my sauces on Munny.
Nothing to report.
This very poster finds this situation disappointing.
Could it be they (Vozzo / Scott) have decided the era of the project player is over? Back to basics, new direction? With a couple of indigenous boys now failing to settle apparently, I’m thinking they e decided to focus on the fundamentals in the next 24 months rather than committing resources to high risk / reward projects. Munny is from outside always high risk.
Is this a sign of different direction? If so, makes less sense chasing Thomas from North imo.
<< Reads all the posts saying this is not actually the case, decides they prefer that narrative anyway >>
Bring a guy in who is a “free list spot”, who you know is going to take significant time to transition to Melbourne, and to a professional environment. Take it very slowly to build his fitness and to bring him into full training. Take it very slowly to even bring him into VFL games. Tell everyone that you are taking a slow approach to help him adapt to the massive life changes
Then delist the guy after a year.
This makes absolutely no sense.
Even if he was having significant doubts personally, you’d let him go away from the club for a while, then welcome him back and pick up where you left off
If this is a club decision (and if it’s not then surely you don’t delist him now, you just give him time), then it shows yet again that drafting, coaching, development and list management is not aligned. This is a massive problem because that is really one of the core problems of the club for the last 20 years.
Of course recruiting and the footy department aren’t aligned. Vozzo and Scott weren’t in a position to provide input when he was drafted.
