Although I agree that it probably wont happen, would you completely shut the door on the idea?
Lets see 2 or 3 years down the track when we are playing for our 3rd straight premiership, then Redman and Hind both go down with injury just before the mid year draft. Surely you would consider Conor ahead of some unknown player?
Over a bloke that’s been playing ammo sport and hasn’t played AFL for 3 or so years? That wouldn’t be sticking around after that season?

3 years from now I think he’d technically be eligible for the Category B rookie list again. Just take both.
If Connor puts himself in the mid year draft and we don’t take him, someone else will.

and people think he’s gonna be switched on and up to speed with all the nuisances of afl football, let alone the change in rules ?
would end up being a disaster bringing him back via this route, and it would sure as hell send a pretty ■■■■■■ msg to all the other blokes on the list busting there ■■■■ over summer and during the season. because you’re essentially picking a bloke who doesn’t want the afl lifestyle, doesn’t want to do all the hard work, doesn’t want to be here, but you’d pick him on on performances x amount of years prior ?
Appreciate what he’s done for us in the past, but that’s where it needs to stay; in the past. There’s no point looking backwards, we’re not going that way. There will always be young guys in the draft, VFL or other teams wanting a shot as the running HB and the one we have atm is an absolute gem.

Sublime skills and excellent distance on his kick. He is’n’t that good with the round ball which an Irish mate who has returned home said to me, he is an Essendon member as well may I add. I had no idea that you can have good or bad ball drop in Gaelic footy.

So was Hird.
As was Hirdy. Think Lyon was the coach at the time and was amazed at how good Hird was having had no practice with it at all.
Probably spun better than it did with a Sherrin 
Did Hird play any soccer as a kid or was it just the ballet he used for cross training?
Maybe our development isn’t as bad as I thought it was, it seems players who leave get worse
