Excellent.

Woohoo Stanton is staying!!!

Expect him to re-sign as soon as the Luenburger deal goes through.

Why is it linked to the Luenburger deal?

It’s a big day for the club tomorrow.

Happy bout this. Want humphrey to become a 300 game player with us.

Great to hear.

Just wouldn’t have felt right seeing him in another teams colours.

Because if we pick up Luey as a free-agent, it would reduce whatever compo we wod get for losing Staton. In fact if we picked up Luey, we probably would not get any compo for losing Stants as their relative value would pretty much be deemed the same.

We’ve picked up luenburger and Stanton gets announced this week

Let’s say hypothetically, we failed to sign Leuenberger, would the club still be chasing Stanton’s signature?

Great news

Does him not singing before the FA period starts mean anything?
If a one year contract for Stanton right now meant we may land O'Meara next next trade period, would you change your mind about our soul etc etc??
Not at all, what are our chances?

What most supporters fail, to understand is, for a football player, football is their occupation. Most people change their place of employment several times during their working life. Footballers now are NO different. If the AFL, is the employer then just like Coles or Woollies, transfers can happen to any store, anywhere, anytime. Supporters need to get used to it. Not everyone stays a one club player anymore and really that mindset is a thing of the past.

Paperwork - what can’t the footy department handle more than one thing at a time?
Stants was upset at the offer on the table which resulted in him getting his manager to see what was out there for him. Not too much more than what we were offering so his manager has been negotiating some finer details so that he is looked after and can re-sign. He wanted to stay but was simply upset at what was offered.
Often our emotional attachment to what something's worth is tarnished by our emotions of WHAT we think its worth. The two maybe be the same. Check outside and see what its worth and that include players. What is the best deal for both.

This is unfortunately very true. Most people dont understand that players are moving all the time at the end of their contracts and with free agency even more so. The draft system will soon be redundant. Soon our game will be like the Premier league in England where four of the richer clubs have a monolopy on the premierships. They simply buy the best players from the poorer clubs.
Look at Hawthorn and Geelong, they are already buying top replacements for their retiring players.Teams that rely on the draft to rebuild will, unless they are very lucky, will be doomed to be cellar dwellers foreever.
i worry about the EFC, they dont seem to have grasped the fact the the whole ball-game has changed. They should be aggressively out there in the market chasing absolutely top players so that we can be competitive immediately rather than hoping that we are lucky in the draft and able to compete in five years time.

Disco said in trade radio yesterday that Stanton’s signing is imminent.

NAB Trade Radio @traderadio
Ramanauskas on Stanton contract: We wanted a 2 year deal, Ess only wanted 1. Now looks like being one with a trigger clause #NABTradeRadio

LOL

Apparantly its a done deal.
Bit of an insult offering him only one in the first place but atleast he now has a trigger to option another year
