#5 Elijah Tsatas (Part 2)

Not too impressed with him either thus far tbh. Had a few good games end of last year though, might be a sign of things to come.
Getting injured an awful lot.

Scott black listed Massimo after that St Kilda game where he was pretty good offensively but Butler kicked 4 on him. He was relegated to the sub role and bit-parts the remainder of the year then offered a 1-year contract.

Or Humphrey, or Weddle, or Jones…….

Yep. I’ve made my peace with it. We ■■■■■■ up. Get what we can for him at season’s end and move on.

If Scott did overrule the recruiting manager then that should be the end of Scott interfering with decision making with recruiting. He needs to stick in his lane and keep the ■■■■ away. He already looks to have ■■■■■■ our pick 5.

this should be the thread title. It’s spot on

Never seen a first round draft pick treated so badly by a club before.

I would see contracts as being very much driven by the coach and who he wants to stay in his team, and who he rates. Maybe not on 4 vs 5 years, but on whether he’s rated enough to be 1 or 2? Absolutely. I would see the list manager working for the coach in that arena, not the other way around.

We farked up the pick no question

Yep there is no way someone like Jones gets a 2 year deal if its just based on Rosa’s call

Im talking purely recruiting via the draft…once the player is at the club different story

I mean, who do we think drove Menzie being renewed and Jones extended? The guy who was/is frequently playing them (the coach) or the list manager?

Whilst BDB may have had an influence, and pushed his preference, the decision would/ should have a collaborative agreement in the end. Everyone in high positions would have been fully aware of who we were taking at pick 5.

This is an entire club Fark up from the get go.

Brad Scott was at the club 5 mins when Tsatas was drafted. Dodoro would’ve given his recommendation and Scott would’ve given an opinion on what he was shown and told. This all comes back to the pathetic top end draft selections we’ve made in the last 20 years.

That’s harsh.

I actually agree that he’s being treated poorly. Just play him in the VFL all year and tell him to work on his issues. I don’t think he deserves to be sub then dropped, which Brad has done several times.

I don’t hate the kid, I hate that the club wasted pick 5 on this kid.

Ok, then odd post to reply to.

That said, willie_■■■■ has said he did make that decision on Tsatas. That might require context though; did the recruiters rate the two about evenly and Scott said “this is the player and player type I want in my team”? Which is ok. But if the recruiters were saying “Player A is better” and the coach goes “I want player B”, that’s a problem.

Didn’t this happen when Knights wanted Sidebottom and Dodoro picked Hurley?

The interesting thing is he’s treated SEH almost the same way in 2025. Just a total disregard for development.

Not a clue. And tricky when it comes to different types as to who should have precedence. But I would have thought the list management/recruiters would (should?) have the main power at draft time as they’ve seen a lot more of the kids, both in the current draft and previous ones. They should be much better experts at picking kids.

That said, they should be recruiting towards a particular set of strengths/gameplan that the coach should be dictating to.

I hope he is a resilient driven kid who will take these setbacks to fuel the fire.

Go smash them all in the VFL and demand your spot back.
