#5 Elijah Tsatas (Part 2)

Never understand the Setterfield hate, maybe cos it’s his third club he seems he’s been around for yonks but he’s just turned 27, basically at the peak of his powers and is a pretty reliable player.

It’s clear though Tsatas isn’t rated, and unfortunately he can’t play anywhere else hence why Day-Wicks, Johnson and even Clarke are getting these opportunities over him.

Humphrey would be perfect for what we need right, but thems the breaks when it comes to drafting.

Tsatas has a year to go on his current deal…if Shiel and Setterfield do leave at the end of this year there’s no doubt Tsatas gets more opportunity in 2026. Whether that will be enough to keep him remains to be seen.
Right now I think Setterfield is way ahead of Tsatas so my inkling is Shiel will be able to go free to another home and Tsatas will get traded for a bucket of chips.
I don’t think Harley’s leaving Perth, which leaves the club either trading hard for Butters or going to the draft with the picks we have.

Setterfield isn’t going anywhere end of this year…

Why would we get rid of Setterfield. He is clearly best 22 and only 27.

I’m not suggesting we get rid of Setterfield; in fact I think he will stay. Fact is he out of contract at the end of the year so the club would need to offer him a contract.

Cause we want to improve?

I can believe it’d happen with contracts. There’s no way they do it to try and influence selection. And if they do, it would never work.

No coach is saying “omg Elijah might leave? Better play him this week!”

Every young player needs development. Harley Reid needs development.

Not to the level of Tsatas.

You think after a couple of years in the system Tsats would have his kicking to a standard level

The club has been working in his kicking since he was drafted

id keep Tsatas unless he wanted to leave - he does have something there - some things to work on but he does have some elite skills as well and he’s only 20

How do you know he’s using up club development resources anymore then other players to the point of been mind boggling?

He’s either onboard with this garbage.
Or he’s not, and leaving.

Saw a lot more niggling/pushing at the opponent last week. And more tackle intent. Lets see.

looking at the vfl match mini he features prominently 4 times. one is a sublime one handed pick up on the turn into an effective hand-pass which is transition down the field for an outstanding goal by smart (4.50). another is a wing clearance which goes horrible wrong for him after he throws away possession when confronted by pressure and they goal from the turnover (8m.30). then there’s another two center clearances where an ineffective handball gets turnover by the clean up crew for a goal and another ineffective handball which is deemed a throw and turned into a goal.

It is mind boggling how we picked a player who needs such extensive corrective development at Pick5.

Did you watch the other 20 VFL reels where he rag-dolled opponent mids?

It’s more mind-boggling that our senior team is full of players who have received extensive corrective development and yet are STILL average.

We even invented the 200cm winger role just to keep stuttering careers alive.

It’s amazing that’s there is so many people are happy to hand over a pick five to another club for SFA.
He goes we are one injury away from from Perkins as a full time mid

It’s not actually. We’ve seen him be first choice midfielder in the pre-season and regularly bog in the VFL. Nothing to do with his draft number expecting him to be given an opportunity

The fact he was drafted during Dodoro’s tenure puts many off his high draft choices as he’s stuffed up most

No one’s arguing that he isn’t / wasnt worth pick 5. That’s a stuff up for sure but doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be given a decent go at it to assess if he’s up to it……
