Well done to him, sounds like he had an excellent game.
I’ve given up trying to understand our “development strategy.”

What do you mean refuse to play him? He played last week and put in a shocker, he needs to earn it and I’m confident he will.
Is not the 40 touches that’ll get him selected in the league team, it’s his skills and effort, and that’s ok.
I watched his game today. Everyone will marvel at his statistics however I can see why they’re developing in the VFL a bit too. His ball use is still scratchy (kicking) and needs more work. For Elijah, it’s not about his stats, it’s about his effectiveness and impact. That’s what I think lets him down slightly at times and says to me why he’s not a lock in the firsts centre square.
Lots of good things but no harm being balanced in how they’re developing him and not just throwing him into the centre at senior level that easily.
2 qns for those that have been at VFL & AFL matches.
What role does Tsatas play in VFL to rack up his 30 to 40 possesions. Is it centre square at bounce and follower / inside mid axross the ground. Does he rest up forward at times or rotate to wing?
And by comparison what position he has played at AFL level, is it always out of his VFL position??
The team that has more effective clearances is winning almost 80% of the time this year. Watch from 3:15.
earn it!!! He has done so many times. Just needs to be in the firsts and left until dingbat works out his best position. He is repeating the Massimo treatment, and will donthevsamevto the new guys today.
That’s exactly what Brad is doing.
but if Tsatas plays more games like today he will be back in soon.
He’s shown he can win clearances at AFL level. it’s the defensive stuff, fitness and ball use.
Also Shiel has years of playing with Merrett and Caldwell and experience of AFL structures that Brad values.
but also Shiel is only the sub.
And i would prefer Tsatas plays a full VFL match than be the sub anyway.
This is a white whale of a Blitz post. Logical, nuanced and well articulated.
Well said.
Sounds like a real failure of our “development strategy” I guess
Fair enough. Feels like stop start while others continue to be rewarded with games displaying long term poor performance.
I’m not sure one game here and there, including as sub, is good development for the kid.
Now credited with 41 disposals and 10 clearances.
Apparently continued to rack them up after the siren .
Yep, and how often do we lament taking forever to determine if a player is any good. Having said that, I pay no attention to other clubs so maybe that’s a common complaint
Post of the thread so far
Tsatas was 10% of the team disposal count and ~25% of team clearances. Freakish.
He kicked a goal just because he could.
Or… You know…play him in the 22
Refuse to play him means he should play 1s and he isn’t because Brad isn’t picking him.
His game last week was nothing like “a shocker”.
Ok,
Upon hindsight, they have put Shiel in as the sub.
Im going to be an optimist here and suggest that maybe they didnt want to do that with Tsatas and thats why he got a full game at Vfl level.
Im completely okay with that so long as Shiel isnt playing a full game ahead of him.
Setterfield is a completely different player to him and adds something completely different which we obviously like and need.
You know you get 22 spots in the team? And he was in the 22 last week?
Next week will be the big test for me.
VFL bye… Does he have yet another week off, or does he get promoted?
