#5 Elijah Tsatas (Part 2)

He did seem to have a more defensive role at stoppages in Q1

It’s a nice luxury to get a win in the seniors and then have your young mid in the seconds rack up 41 touches, a heap of clearances and a goal

What’s the story with his endurance?
Did he not have a good tank as a junior?
I think when he sorts that out and another year or two in the gym, the guy is going to be a weapon.

Disposed of Brad’s faint praise in the rooms and cleared out of there.

I don’t have much more information but I recall his first pre season he was very far back in the time trials.

FWIW by his second I believe he’d improved to mid pack.

I feel as if this whole tank thing is overrated heavily.
The reason he probably was running up and down that last game in the afl was he had only played one game in five weeks and match fitness is not something that can be replicated by doing sprints and run throughs

He had a foot injury in his draft year and then had a meniscus injury during his first pre season. Both have probably affected his endurance.

I was watching him closely against North and he didn’t stop running until he was out of gas. Just needed to be smarter when to run and when to catch a quick breather. He’ll learn from it and I feel he is really coachable at the moment. You can teach defensive traits and running patterns.

Really? Who said that?

I think most of the play the kids pushers think they’ll improve more and faster in the firsts. Not that no kid improves in the VFL.

Hard to show much at AFL level when you’ve only played 14 AFL games.

And a big chunk of them on the wing.

And as a sub.
Jury still out (clearly) but the sample size is very small.

Paddy Dow’s best game after seven years in the system was 9 clearances and 12 contested possessions.

Tsatas had 11 and 14 in his 11th game

yeah probably . I don’t watch the VFL so I’m happy to be wrong , I have just not seen anything much yet at afl level.

We haven’t seen much at AFL either…
Because he’s played about twenty minutes at that level in 3 years.
That’s our point.

Let him dominate the VFL all season, racking up 45+ every game. Play him as sub a few times late in the season, especially when he doesn’t have to play more than 25% game time. Don’t talk to his manager at all. Then throw him into a Reid deal at the end of year.

He is contracted until the end of next year.

I don’t think he will be going anywhere he doesn’t want to go.

Won’t matter, he will feel aggrieved and hating Scott, desperate to play anywhere. We can even pick up next years salary as a sweetener to WCE.

Tsatas and a 2025 first and a 2026 second for Reid?

Yeah. That’s not happening. On any level.
