#5 Elijah Tsatas (Part 2)

One can wish.

I’d rather back him in, than ā€˜wish’ him out of the club.

I get why ADW mist likely remains in afl and tsatas in vfl.

Tsatas is good with loose ball gets. In the highlights from yrstersays vfl match its a uncontested and he’s always got a vfl player 1 step from tackling him.

Not one highlight of Tsatas was a result of 2nd and 3rd efforts.

At AFL level these loose balls in engine room are much less frequent and the pressure higher.

And if as this board suggests his endurance needs improvement limits his flexibility to break in afl.

Whereas ADW at VFL was contested ball gets, multiple efforts. And this seemed to translate more successfullybto afl.

Tsatas averages 16 contested possessions to ADW 5 at VFL level. Tsatas averages 1.7 hard ball gets per game at AFL level putting him 3rd at Essendon behind only Durham and Caldwell, ADW had no hard ball gets in his debut game.

Bring him back

he’s played a fee games last year and a game or 2 this year hasn’t he? I’m not down on him , just when he played last year didn’t show a lot . he may or may not be ok . sample size is too small to tell and he didn’t start that well

This thread is at least good to help decide who to put on ignore.

Fixed for ya :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I still have belief that he can become a good extractor at AFL level. I also do not have a problem with him playing predominantly VFL this year. The 2 aren’t mutually exclusive.

If he plays mostly VFL this year he hands in a trade request - an so he should.

This will be a fark up of massive proportions by EFC if they let Tsatas go. They will regret it big time.

I could see it going one of two ways.
He goes to north and plays with his best mate wardlaw or wardlaw comes to Essendon to play with his best mate Tsatas

how many blokes leave their employer to go work with their best mate?

More than 0.

No idea how we’d fit both Tsatas and Wardlaw in though.

Wardlaw is permanently injured. No thank you.

There’s nothing wrong with making a kid earn their career, especially if there are aspects to his game that he needs to improve to AFL standard. Kicking and tackling need improvement. We can put up with one of those deficiencies but not both.

I believe that Tsatas will be a very good midfielder for us, but at present he is going to have to wait for his chance and then make sure he takes it.

My personal opinion is that Hobbs’ role is there for the taking. I think Hobbs is a bit of a liability in high pressure games where he ignores first option and tries to weave through traffic. I dont think the best 23 is settled yet.

I think that while we are running with a game plan where two forwards come up to the midfield Hobbs will be fine, it’s a really good role for him. He’s not a world beater but he’s playing good footy this year

Footy is a fair bit different to the real world, and ties to friends in other clubs definitely influences where players end up.
A recent example from last trade period was jack Loukius went to port because his best mates with rozee
