Tsatas won’t mind playing VFL if he’s bought in and knows he has a future at Essendon. It obvious to us what he needs to improve so it would be more than obvious to him. Even in his VFL highlights there was a play where he needed to move the ball on quickly by foot but chose not to because he didn’t trust his kicking. He needs to improve this and the VFL is his best bet with cameos in the firsts. My guess is by the last half dozen games of the year Merrett will be playing more forward and Tsatas will get his stoppage minutes.

I genuinely think his only real issues now as a player are his defensive work rate and tank.
His kicking for the position and way he plays looks to be acceptable now.
Just needs to improve his running patterns and continue to build his tank.
I think he needs to be playing seniors now, he needs to learn the pace of the game by playing it.
I was pretty happy to see that Shiel wasnt starting on the ground yesterday, as he is the one that Tsatas should be in for.

There was a post that said not only could Tsatas not learn anything in the VFL, he’d go backwards…
He’s contracted, so unless someone is paying overs it should be a firm no.
My pessimism is at an all time high right now but if we continue to ■■■■ him around and he ends up with < 10 games this year it could be toys out of the cot and “force a trade” scenario. Holding on to guys whilst they’re kicking and screaming rarely happens the days and when it does it doesn’t usually end well (or at least not that I can think of any examples off the top of my head).

I think the thread has gone around in many circles.
I hope he comes in for a few weeks at least. We need to see if it translates to AFL…because it’s all speculation right now.

Agree it’s only way we know one way or the other.
He is probably unlucky with injury in his first year as in your first year teams tend to just play the high pick regardless and teams tend to leave them alone

For those of you that watched the VFL game, did he create any scoring opportunities from the 500 disposals he had? I haven’t watched it, but interested to know if they were effective disposals?

Tsatas played with Hobbs, Shiel and Setterfield in the VFL last year. He wracked up more possessions than them in those games. If possessions is your sole measure, he played better than all of them in those games.

So a handball 90 meters away to someone 1 meter away can be considered a score involvement. I am asking whether he actually created opportunities?
I’m not saying he didn’t, I just want to know whether he really impacted the game. The lack of impact is his biggest knock.

I would have to go back and rewatch the game to answer that correctly then and I can’t be stuffed doing that but he definitely impacted the game and was head and shoulders best on ground.
