He got moved into the midfield more the past two weeks and been attending stoppages around the ground and has done next to nothing.
And is a liability as a half forward see what Bailey dale did last week to him.
I just don’t understand how you keep your spot after 15 touches 2 tackles 1 contested possession and your opponent gets 17 touches on you in half a hour after the week before putting up 15 touches and 2 tackles.
Yeah, I’m not real sure I can take your opinion seriously on that subject.
Why enlighten me?
You just seem a little emotional and focused on him.
I think if your going to say things like you can’t trust my opinion at least come at me with stats why iam wrong which is something i try to provide to my arguments
I was also replying to smartish response before that.
Nah, I’m good. Your response doesn’t do much to change my opinion, frankly.
I think you have a bee in your bonnet about that one particular player.
Maybe I’m right, maybe I’m not.
Doesn’t really matter, does it.
3rd rounder
I haven’t got a bee in my bonnet with Hobbs I actually want him in the side I’d like to see him given setterfield as role and build him for the future but I want to see some of these favourites get held to the same account that players like Tsatas and Saad get held to.
And iam probably a little frustrated there is a fair chance we could lose those two when I can see they have a future
I think Hobbs has been ok and it’s difficult to judge any of the forwards on last week given how comprehensively we were smashed in the guts
But given that we were slaughtered in contested possession, clearances and ground ball gets against the dogs I would have though the bloke who’s best in the team at those three things might add something this week
I think Hobbs and Tsatas have been treated appallingly.
Tsatas has been treated far worse.
Hobbs had a very, very good 2023, and was messed around ridiculously last year. Not as much this year, but it’s still not ideal.
I get where you are coming from on the stat angle. It’s learning to run both ways that seems to have let him down. There has to be something Brad and the assistants can see he isn’t doing.
Realistically you could make the same argument for Gerryn to come in over Langford , Langford has done jack this year. Gerryn has been consistent for a young kid. And long term he will be a jet. But he isn’t ready
That’s going on stats alone .
Hayes took his medicine learnt in the twos and had he no been injured ,I doubt he would be dropped for the rest of the year. He just looked like he fit.
When Elijah can hurt teams with the ball in the twos bring him in. And I mean hurt in the way he uses the ball not the amount he gets it.
You would take a 25 posession game with a few tackles but more importantly meters gained. Over the 41 with a ton of handballs
I agree fully 2023 he had a great year and everything was trending in the right direction I actually thought he was going to go past Caldwell.
I see what your saying and I think he did that against the crows got 300 and something metres and was overall a solid, and iam sure the metres gained in the vfl last game would have been higher but he definitely didn’t do that against north though.
He one hundred percent has defensive issues that he needs to work on but I think the coaches need to set him up to do that either play him defensively or give him a tag in the vfl to show he can do it or give him AFL time and say your role is just that
Playing him back for a week in VFL or as a pressure forward would help defensively
Honestly, if we had any other mega-talented junior in the VFL dropping 40 each week I’d be double-handing myself on Main Street to get them into the AFL team. We aren’t any good.
It’s Rnd 10 and I’ve seen more of Goldstein, Jones, Gresham, Day-Wicks, Hobbs, Prior, Shiel, Laverde, Setterfield than our beautiful VFL-star baby bomber Elijah.
Tsatas is worth about pick 50 and Hobbs about pick 60….more likely to be picked up in a preseason draft……
I suspect that tsatas will get a block of 5 or 6 games after the bye. This will decide his future.
Which, again, is a Farking disgrace.
Assuming we do give him those six games ‘to decide his future’…that will give this top ten draft pick as many games in his third year at the club as many games as a complete garbage supplemental pick who’s been with the club precisely seven months has already played this year.
This is where I think he got dropped too. Doesn’t have a compelling defensive side to his game.
But I reckon the better teams and coaches understand how to emphasize the strengths of their players, not just hold them back till they have addressed their weak parts.
Besides I don’t recall many inside mids being overly defensive in their early years. Tend to be see ball get ball players.
Can’t shake the feeling that he’d be way better off at Collingwood or eagles just winning and feeding our handballs.
In this draft. Tsatas would be worth a second rounder, Hobbs probably similar, maybe late first. Hobbs would likely walk straight into Eagles midfield.
Imagine it would be more beneficial for some clubs to trade in a semi experienced, or previous highly rated kid than bet on this draft with a late first or second round pick.
