I don’t think so…
Have you seen our list?
We need to be using all the talent we have at our disposal
He might just be like Will Brodie.
Drafted at #9 in 2016, got 25 Games in 5 years at Gold Coast.
29 games in 4 years at Fremantle. Averaged 26 disposals, 5 clearances and 5 tackles in 2022 and has barely gotten a game since.
2 different teams that just didn’t/don’t use him at AFL level, even though he can get some good stats.
And also there are just better midfielders ahead of him at Freo.
Do you really think Tsatas has it?
I’m no recruiting guru I can assure you, and am just a nuffy on the terraces but I watch the VFL most weeks and I don’t see an A grader in Tsatas.
I can see a promising footballer with Johnson and Clarke. I can see real promise in Vigo. I saw talent in Hayes and was surprised it took so long for him to get a chance. But I just can’t see ‘it’ with Tsatas.
I see a real workhorse, a guy you has good craft at clearances but also a guy who seems to be not impactful in his ball use with a poor kick. A guy who’s not great defensively. If he wasn’t pick 5 with a strong reputation, would he be regarded as much better than Dylan Clarke….
I’d rather go with a future of Durham, Caldwell, Martin. Then hope they trade for a superstar like Reid or someone else the next three years.
Happy to be embarrassed with Tsatas but my eye doesn’t see a star with him and if they can get a decent early 2nd round future pick for him I’d take it I reckon.
Will Brodie can’t run. Hits an aerobic wall and becomes a liability setting up defensively and getting to contests. He is a footballer from 2003.
I think Scott hates Italians and Greeks.
i guess at least getting rid of him now we might get something for him.
swans got pick 19 for pick 25 so a small upgrade and a third rounder.
so i guess if he went to eagles could do something like
Tsatsas + 27 for 19 + 49
potentially moves our pick ahead of Sweid and El-Achkar bids?
He would have played Mercuri in the VFL until he was 26.
Play this kid in the starting 22 at AFL level for 4-6 weeks straight.
- It’ll give him confidence to find form/fitness
- Will provide a higher % in keeping him at Essendon
- We’ll know if he is up for it or not after this period
- If he does leave, may increase his trade worth
- Actually provides Elijah with real opportunity instead of VFL, carry over emergency, sub, VFL bye… etc.
knock on brodie is kicking and defensive transition too as i recall (i’m shocked we haven’t gone after him to be honest)
It might shock the majority of those on here but I’ll back the judgement of a guy who has spent 30+ years in the AFL over a bunch of randoms on the internet any day.
Because he has an exemplary record on
Massimo,
Jones,
Weideman,
Gresham,
Menzie,
Perkins.
Two 900cm chicken wings.
I quite like Menzie but even I’d have dropped him last year. Even sheeds had his favourites and oddities. Don’t worship them.
Big difference between backing and worshipping.
BS only had 12 months to assess Massimo besides the jury is still out whether he is a long term lock.
Clearly BS isn’t a huge advocate for playing kids so was never going to go in to bat for guys like Mass in his first year.
Fringe guys like Hobbs, Gresham, Perkins, Jones, etc are/ were clearly getting games purely due to a lack of proven players challenging for their spots.
Kids are mostly getting games due to injury but big call to drop senior players for even more kids when you’re already playing 4-5 each week.
It’s funny when someone refers to him as BS, Oh the Irony.
Baby ■■■■■■■
It’s the Brad Scott worshipers that think he’s no good
If he’s decided Tsatas isn’t up to it, fine. Coaches are allowed to make calls like that irrespective of who the player is.
But it’s the fkg him around which annoys me. Only playing 15 mins of football when he could have played an entire games worth across AFL/VFL. Hold over emergency.
That stuff can GAGF.
I have serious doubts about Tsatas, but, he is a Number 5 pick and was picked to fill a specific role, and should be given a chance. Taking into account where we are as a team and some of the players that have been given more opportunities than him; ie: Shiel, Perkins & Hobbs, I think we could die wondering come seasons end.
As I alluded to earlier, to me, this seems a very similar scenario to D’Ambrossio, when the player has been picked he is Sub, giving him a likely 20 minutes of gametime.
As I said, I have doubts about Tsatas; but, I would like to see a lot more of him before offloading him for a can of coke and packet of potato chips.
Well lets get Dodoro back in. 30 years in the AFL… he simply must know what he’s doing. Right?
