He doesn’t extract hardball, he reads it off hands well. He will never have the innate physicality to win hardball at AFL level. Players who do that to elite level have been Oliver, Cripps, Dunkley, Libba types. All contested pigs from day dot. The closest thing we’d have on our list is Hobbs.
Parish wins hard balls.
When Tsatas kicks 4 in his 1st finals appearance in his 1st year of footy you might have a point
I think Brad Scott handled Elijah horrendously for the first half of this year and in my view was very poor coaching.
There was an acknowledgment that Tsatas was to work on his kicking and like with any skill change your conference waivers as you learn. So what does Brad do? Yo-Yo him between Sub Games, Carry over emergency and VFL - and when he did play, played him in a role that highlights his flaws. It was just idiotic.
Not what I’ve seen and it’s a huge call to say never. Never is an awful long time.
This is yet to be proved imo. He’s a pretty big lad. His ability to know where the pill is going to be, pick it up and run away from congestion is pretty fucken good so maybe he’s never needed to fall on the ground and wrestle the thing out!
Sorry I missed something, but I had a point already. I guess you’re suggesting you don’t agree with the point.
Fair, but I think Nick Watson might not be the gun some think.
I don’t know if this is laced with innuendo, or an observation.
I think parish does work very hard in the centre

How many times have you seen Tsatas run away from congestion? I’ve rarely seen him take more than two steps with the ball, and never seen him take a bounce. He looks like he has some great attributes, but this breakaway game people keep referring to is more myth than reality.
Posted this a while back.
I think he gets miscast a bit because people hear ‘pacey’ midfielder and expect long speed, where I’d probably classify him as more of a burst player, quick over 10-15m/out of stoppage etc. - think Adam Treloar.
I’m referring to burst speed. He may have it, but he doesn’t use it on the football field. Would be great if he added this to his game.
Tbf you don’t see that heaps at VFL level anyway, the game is way more congested
Dane Swan was pick 58 and reckon he would have racked up a few in the VFL.
Dane Swan? The near 300 game superstar brownlow medallist premiership player? Yeah, he would have got a few.
My ‘like’ will give you a ‘nice reply badge’. Hope you enjoy it
there’s just too many elite AFL traits such as his ball winning, speed and clean hands for him not to be a very good footballer at senior level.
Agree with this. He just looks so good at getting the footy out from in tight. It looked good at junior level, and he graduated to dominating at it in the VFL after losing December-June in his first season to injury.
His kicking is a real concern, because there have been times when it just costs us. Similar to Parish.
Foolish to write him off, but has a big year. Play him round one regardless of anything.
Centre square mids
Parish Tstats Caldwell/Durham
Caldwell or Durham can push up from Half forward
Wings Martin and Dursma
Merrett to half back
Shiel and Hobbs from bench
Ed Pascoe on the LTCUP suggested El Hawli would be part of the wing rotation so that will be interesting to see how it affects the mix.
