I remember that one, that was a genuine wtf is going on game.
We were sitting in the top four going into that game too.
There was a st kilda one mid 00’s in the belting rain that sucked donkey balls.
One of them, 2011 i think was back to back 90+ losses to them and the Klan.
@Ta0Ta you’re going to have a fun time.
Ohhhh that Easter one vs Freo at Marvel!
Ohh, the McPhee game.
Yeah, that was no good.
About 20k there, easter sunday, nobody cared.
Unfortunately Hirdy’s sacking game goes here
The game Ben McKinley kicked seven.
The game Nick Gill kicked five.
Man, we really have sucked, huh?
I think that one was a draw that we were expected to lose?
Nah, we def lost, got fisted by Milne.
I spent a lot of that game laughing.
We’d beat Freo over there and then the Bulldogs, and was genuinly thinking top 4 and how far could we go? Hurley had finally started kicking goals and was starting to look like he had found his groove as a forward.
He kicked the first goal of the game from memory, then he pulled a hammy about 3 mins later, and the game and the season just capitulated from there.
Hmm, can’t think of any other games against the Saints at the G around that time that weren’t under the roof.
I remember this well. The match was in ‘06. We’d won one game to that point and were in front all day until the final minutes. We lost by 3 points.
Round 22 1979. 1st September at Windy Hill attendance of 22,589
Essendon 8.15 (63) to Richmond 18.14 (122)
Barry Davis was coach. Bombers finished 5th and made finals.
The next week in the Elimination Final Fitzroy smashed us 17.22 (124) to 5.13 (43), I was one of the 49,470 at VFL Park to watch that tragedy as well.
We have had some very bad losses since 2000, but some farking awful ones before it as well.
After that Richmond game and most had left, my best Mate and I went into the Members Lounge, and Paul Doran, ex champion full back, who was Club Manager was looking very worried. He told us how he hated these losses as cleaning up Members Medallions was a terrible job. I ask him what he meant and he told us that dozens of Members threw their Membership medallions into the toilets and urinals. Staff would fish them out, clean them up and post them back ! Bomber Members have always been feral.
I was at that game, too.
Luckily for you lot, living in NQ means I don’t get to too many live games.
That game was the catalyst for the 1993 premiership though. Sheeds was made to realise it was time to play the kids.
It was a really poor showing in front of a decent Marvel crowd. Plenty to play for.
I was wrong. For some reason I thought that game ended in a draw. Yeah, this is it @scotty21. Good call, @Quark
I’m pretty sure that was Kyle Reimers last game, too.
