There was also a Melbournington performance against us in 2015. Pretty sure the Shaunye Edwards goosestep got rolled out that day.
Lot of similarities between us and them.

And the 2016 top-up year win against them.
How the ■■■■ is this only at no 6?, wouldn’t have it any lower than 3
When jack watts is BOG against you, you deserve every bit of scorn that is thrown at you
My favourite win against Melbourne was Neale’s last game as coach at the Docklands. We got well ahead early, then they clawed back, got in front halfway through the third and stayed there for most of the last quarter apart from the last minute. For memory Lucas walked into an easy goal from the goal square.
Hird’s last win as coach.
Honestly, one of my favourite post-Sheedy wins.
| Adelaide | 6.1.37 | 13.4.82 | 20.7.127 | 30.8.188 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essendon | 2.2.14 | 4.6.30 | 5.9.39 | 6.14.50 |
AKA: “The Trent Hentschel Game”
Trent Hentschel kicked 8.0 for the Crows. Ken McGregor also chipped in with his second bag of 4 goals against Essendon in consecutive meetings.
The highest score conceded by Essendon since 2000 and 5th highest in the club’s history.
The crown jewel of poor interstate performances in the late Sheedy era.

The 2005/06 Crowbots were a fantastic team. Should have won that prelim vs the Eagles that year
Thirty goals.
Our ninth loss on the trot (as part of a 14 game losing streak, which was finally broken by a draw against Carlton).
Also: Milestone game - Dustin Fletcher’s 250th
Chris Heffernan leading disposal getter.
I’d completely forgotten we’d traded him back in amongst all the other crazy moves of that era.
Ah yes 2006,
Beat the reigning champion bin chickens by 5 goals in round 1, then lose 14 in a row.
Dicking the Klan late in the season was fun.
The top 4 is going to be absolute Carnage
To be fair, we were incredibly Lloyd dependent between 2002-2007. Even when we were still ok in the earlier portion of that period, any time Lloyd was missing, we struggled. The dependency became even clearer in the latter part of that period.
In hindsight, probably shouldn’t have been a huge surprise we won fk all in 2006.
Hey at least we got some draft picks that year…in theory, Gumby would have been a great Lloyd replacement.
We did manage to draft a champion footballer that year.
I mean, he did all the champion footballing at another club, but we did draft him.
That Klan game I mentioned made everyone think Courtney Johns = New Lloyd
Of the 3 games we won that year
Chickens 4th
Klan 5th
Bizzare
The great feature of the 2005-2010 period was that we were capable of beating anyone, and losing to anyone.
Mark Neeld’s greatest coaching achievement.
