#6 Joe Daniher - drank a beer

It's great that we can just watch him play. He's having fun, he's fun to watch.

There is so, so, so much talent there - he's not really *good* at any particular role yet (as a target, as a ruck, as a finisher, etc etc) but he's just got so much natural ability he's in the contest a lot of the time.

Reminds me of watching Hepp's first year: just does stuff! All the time.

I'm sure there was a play where he came out from around CHF and ran through evading a couple of blues and getting the handball away.

Farking awesome.

His lead, mark and goal to finish off will be a huge confidence booster for him.

If Hardingham can learn to kick straight then Joe should have no issues. Give it time.

I suspect we're in the process of remodelling his kicking action.  He'll probably be a bit flaky til he gets used to the new way of doing things.

That deft little tap to Heppell. Noice.

2. Seems one of the greatest goalkickers of all time thinks JD's kicking is poor.

It is. But he's just a kid. It will be much, much better in a couple of years time.

Only if he practises - that's Lloyd's point. If he doesn't practise there is no reason to believe he will improve, and it would be possible to get worse (yips on top of poor technique).

I don't know whether he is practising or not, but it would be no use just waiting and hoping that it all turns around after 30 games.

Just how good is this kid gonna be.

I was out of my chair as I watched this 20 second passage of play. As I saw a future super star, possibly our next Brownlow medalist display his skill & talent as a young colt.

The pick ups at his ankles, the baulks, the shimmys, the 2nd effort when it comes of a hand, the dummy, the fake, & then finally a sublime finish to Ambo.

And all this desire & push, ... in the final 30 seconds of the qtr! I cited this passage to anyone who would listen for the next week, didn't see why I should let you guys of the hook.

It took a while to get it to happen as a clear large Gif & I'm sorry, it may take a while to load on slower connections, but it deserved the effort & will be worth the wait I think.

Honestly, what does everyone want to see? Joe getting a leg up on top of a big pack every five minutes and then going back to slot a goal? Dreams of yesterday. We might structure something sort of like that one day when he's got a lot of games under him but why not take a look at what he's doing around the contests? If he wasn't so far up the ground he could probably crumb off his own deflections. Stupendous talent. We aren't playing a big marking forward game like that these days. But, give it some time. When he gets some strength into him he's going to be a massive handfull. How on earth sides are going to match up on him and Carlisle makes me drool.

It would be great if he didn't have to be 'the man' in our forward line. He will develop into a great player but I still see him as a slight liability against the premium defenders. He doesn't have the strenght to go with them at the moment. This will change in a couple of years and the experience he is getting now will be good for him in the long term but I want a premiership this year.

Just how good is this kid gonna be.

Fantastic. Can we also get a gif of the Franklin like 2 bounce run from the wing to near the 50? Pretty please?

Daf him being a liability against the premium defenders? its his 10th game and he is getting the #1 defender currently.... that FREES up the others it isnt a liability and he will only get better

He got outbodied by Gibson yes.

But as he develops he will only improve. In a year or two Gibson would be zero chance of playing on Daniher. And Lake will struggle if hes still around.

Best 204cm midfielder in the league

Look at Hawkins yesterday. Proved an absolute match winner.

He was recruited six years ago and it took him four years to be a good player and he is now finally fulfilling the promise.

We have to be patient with Daniher. He is just a baby in football terms and needs time to develop. Huge expectations but realistically it will be while before he is the gun forward marking everything etc.

Makes you appreciate how good Paul Salmon was when he burst on to the scene in 1984.

He cops a few unfair play ons when he just marks the ball. Not an umpie fav early on.

But he's very skinny still and well skinny.

We kick the ball to him shithouse

I know we have to be patient with him.

I believe he will be a star.

The Hawkins comparison, yes it did take him four years to be settled. I think Daniher will take around the same time. My problem is Hawkins wasn't the number one forward when he started. Mooney/Ottens etc were there.

It's just not fair on Daniher.

Because he is our number one fwd he is a liability as he just isn't ready. The problem is, who else is there helping him? Carlisle isn't doing anything.

Daniher is kicking some serious ■■■■ out there. He is second in the AFL for contested marks (one behind Hawkins).

As good as that gif is for watching JOE! it also shows some pretty impressive running from Hawthorn.

Pressure on every disposal, and when we finally get clear there's a guy on the mark and two men running forward from that contest to fill the 30-40 metre kick.

Oh, well.  Let's go inside.

■■■■.

He is actually 2nd in the comp for contested marks to this point. Just need to be patient and keep the faith. Precocious talent.
