#7 Zerrett - could double his Crichton/Peter Crimmins by 2027

They need to say the usual crap, like how he’s loved ect… so it seems like it’s a possibility that he could come back. We need to be properly compensated, don’t want a Ryder situation where the media dictate that we should just let him walk for a bucket of chips.

Is Guelfi out the door?

In other words, he has left.

Yep. Especially with the Drafts in a few years time being skewed to Tassie. Now we’ve decided to rebuild. We need to load up while we can.

There has to be more to this and what Merrett’s manager said to Edmund about relationships being fine just doesn’t think the young kids will get there quickly enough for him.

Brad and Vozzo were measured but reasonable in the media.

Merrett had to know they’d be disappointed him in, but I just can’t believe he would crack it so much to boycott the B&F.

Don’t worry it’s forcing his value up. Hawthorn have promised the world - now they have to deliver with a trade deserving of a 6 time BnF winner and captain or they look like the shitest blokes in the world.

Us on the other hand, we can play hardball knowing that Zach won’t want to be coming back to us anytime soon. So the Hawks have to make it happen now.

No way Merrett and Scott have a good relationship. Not after the last 24 hours. Absolutely no ■■■■■■■ way. Scott talks like a politician. Go on North forums and see what they say about Scott’s relationship with players

Just quietly, Zach and his management have schooled us on the PR front. It’s gone from disillusioned at his exit meeting to completely untenable within the space of a week. Via his mouthpiece Tom Morris, it’s galvanised supporters and teammates alike to want one of our most loved, contracted captain out the door. And in doing so has set a perfectly reasonable trade market for him.

For an ex media guru as our president, we have been absolutely schooled. Big yikes.

I’ve always suspected he’s a ■■■■ captain.
He was removed once before.

I always noticed in club videos throughout the year where it’s all a bit of a laugh and fun, that Merrett never appears in them.

I don’t think he’s a good clubman at all.

He needs to go. He doesn’t want to be a leader one bit!

They have changed the narrative. Media were going hard that our leaders weren’t aligned with the coach. Now it has been confirmed by 2 of the leaders group that’s complete BS. What it now says is that Merrett is the one with issue not the club.

Media will be saying Hawthorn need to make sure they get the deal done now.

We are gutted too, cost us back to back to back 99-01

Spot on. He will need to be traded and will have less bargaining power. Merrett will become one of the most hated Essendon players of all time. Daniher, Saad, Ryder, Carlisle, Merrett

As one of them said, 10 years back. It still very much rings true to this day

This club is ■■■■■■

Nope they thought they could get more cash out of the Bombers by shopping Zach around. No way he’s getting more money at Hawthorn. It’s egg on their face how our other leaders have turned narrative on Zach.

Have we lost the PR battle?

We might lose the player which seems inevitable.

But do people now think better or worse of Merrett? Do people think better or worse of Brad and Vozzo?

The Merrett reporting has been back tracking his position a little

think they probably realise they actually might be cooked and we won’t trade him so he needs to not go too hard so he can spin his way back to the club.

Be a frosty entrance to preseason. The boys will be livid behind closed doors at this.

The club will be unfucked when we finally get rid of these selfish players. No organisation is better as a whole when the tail is wagging the dog.

Was just going to say this.

Merrett was the most respected player out our club.

There’s now former coaches coming out and speaking of his poor behaviour.

Resorting to boycotting the B&F just makes him look even worse.

So childish.

I think much more of Scott and Vozzo than I do Merrett at this point in time. This is one of the biggest betrayals of all time.

so this comment from the Nic Martin article gives me confidence there is awareness of the issue

“My job as a leader is to make sure Isaac Kako, Nate Caddy, Angus Clarke, Archie Roberts, these types are there as well have lost no confidence in what we are building. I am going to do everything in my power to make sure I am there for the next premiership.”
