#7 Zerrett - could double his Crichton/Trevor Barkers by 2027

Not sure many players can look him in the eye tonight. Couldn’t ask for more from him. Tried to carry the team over the line.

Should have been made captain years ago. Instead this soft pea heart club dropped him from the leadership group because he was ruffling too many feathers.

imagine if we had someone that was even 80% the calibre of jobe in the centre bounces, merrett would benefit so ■■■■■■■ much

That’s ok to agree with him but iam not the only one saying it and seeing it.
He is by far our best player and that isn’t going to change anytime soon but it doesn’t mean he isn’t exempt from criticism

we’re so used to his excellence

If there’s any justice in this sport we will come good for him.

Maybe some recency bias, maybe just some general bias because I love him, but Zach is our best player since Hird.

IMO Jobes best was better…but Zachs body of work would put up a good argument because he has been excellent for so long. He is a good chance of retiring with the most B&Fs ever in our history.

Also, don’t forget Elliott Kavanagh.

Merrett’s tackling has been elite this year. Setting a very high standard for everyone to follow.
If he gets ya, you’re a gonna!!!

I think Jobe realistically had 5 A grade years. And yes his best was very good, but I don’t think he’s near Zach tbh. Zach has already had 8 going on 9 A grade years. His consistency is incredible.

Also people should never discount Lloyd in the best we have seen in the past 30 years.

King just said that Merrett is the best captain in the league right now.

We lose that game without him.

We lose most games without him.

It’s a setup for an article in a months time about how much of a disappointment he’s been since he’s made that statement.

3 x AA, 4 x BnF. what a great career. win us a premiership, it becomes a legendary one.

In all honesty, I love his aggressive tackling.
It’s great.
I hope he doesn’t get caught doing a sling tackle like last year. He has that frame of mind where he’s hunting for the tackle. Just hope he doesn’t go overboard.

I love how he’s always, one, maybe two, steps ahead of the play. A few times yesterday I thought wtf is Merrett doing here, yet he ends up right where he needs to be. His footy IQ is off the charts.
