Not for nothing, Merrett is a competitor and he takes pride in doing everything he can as a player. the fact his effort is unconditional is one of the things that makes him so good.
it’s just unfortunate timing for him that he is at his peak when the list is such a mess.

Week in, week out. You get 100% from Zach every game. Getting flogged, winning comfortably. Doesn’t matter. Zach turns up.
God I hope we give him some success. He’s fkn earned it. He’s a very special footballer is Zach.

. An Anzac Day win after beating the Crows would be a good start. He’ll at least win a final with us before he retires. Don’t know if we’ll be wining flags in the next 3-4 years, but a few finals is likely the way the list is building

Building quite the highlight reel of defensive actions this season is Merrett.
Fingers crossed, but Zach is the type that could play well into his 30’s.
I’d be hoping Zach has 7+ years left with us, and hopefully will finish with 1 premiership, 6 x Crichton, 4xAA and 350+ games
He certainly will. He will slot into a forward pocket in his latter years slicing the opposition with forward entry’s. His professionalism will ensure that his body keeps him going.
If Zerrett is ever to become a fwd, he’d need to put a lot of work into his snaps. I have no confidence in his snapping beyond about 25 meters.
