Some of the hawks boys also in attendance to make the transition easier next year
I bet the first dance was to the hawthorn club song
Couldnāt even manage a smile on his wedding day knowing heās not a Hawk
Not a lot of love for Zach these days.
Yeah, its pretty suprising
LOL. Somehow not even the biggest Judas in attendance.
Who cares?

Because I still want to express my disdain for the topic of this thread.
Genuinely made me laugh
I still think Merrettās a prat for what he did in August/September.
Whatever happens here on in at least his wedded wife always has his back.
But congratulations to him and Alexandra on their marriage and I wish them well in their time as husband and wife
The real talking point here is Mrs Durham
Sammy has a better batting average than Bradman
Thatās ridiculous if true. Heās still by far our best player and has carried the team for years. Some people have short memories, when just a couple of years ago we were urging him to seek success elsewhere, because Essendon is such a basket case with no signs of success any time soon. We are chronically short of champions and we canāt afford to turn on of our own.
Congrats to Zach and Alexandra, hoping the day was all they hoped for. Life is more important than footy and hopefully they enjoy a great year with their small budding family.
I was pretty cut up re: Zach during trade season but am ok now and will cheer him on as usual, irrespective of what the future holds. Iām a little worried about our feral fan base though.
The club were deleting comments on the post that were cracking jokes about him and hawthorn
Classic
YIKES. ,!!
Show stopper
Congratulations to both of them.
I wish them many happy days ahead.
Zach made a choice to jump ship and chase a premiership with Hawthorn, while captain of EFC. Obviously thatās his right and heās free to do what he considers is in his best interests. However, decisions have consequences⦠in this case the consequence is that heās effectively ā ā ā ā on his EFC legacy and now a large proportion of EFC fans are ambivalent, at best, towards Zach.
Even though the AFL is essentially now a corporate product, football is still a tribal, emotional game. Itās natural for fans to feel hurt / betrayed when their captain wants to abandon ship, even though I think most would understand Zachās motivation for wanting to bail and can acknowledge his contribution to EFC.
At the end of the day, the whole episode was unsavoury and terribly managed. Zach has dug his own grave for a lot of EFC supporters. Itās not that hard to understand.
Yeah very well put. I wonāt boo him, but I wonāt be cheering for him either.
