#7 - Zerrett - New Beginnings

He flew over and met folks at Port and I know that they thought they had him across the line

Interesting maybe he can go there eventually

Fark Carlton

Hawks

Looks like he’s trying to collect the whole set

What’s with them and poaching our players. It’s weird. At least we finally got one back in Duursma.

I don’t think it’s any of our business how he manages his career. He met with Brad and Mitchell. Seriously who would impress you most - a guy with an actual game plan, or an AFL plant, whose resume includes running his last team into the ground.
The Hawks stuffed up by disrespecting Essendon with rubbish trades and stupid deadlines.
Love Zac and I’m glad we kept him.
Also its the 21st century, players are meeting with opposition officials all the time - they have a short career and are entitled to make the most of opportunities that arise.

I wouldn’t think too many club captains have met with opposition coaches. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to hold your Captain to a higher loyalty standard than other players either.

Are you fkn serious?

I get it from zac’s POV, which i have stated numerous times. No issues with him chasing success.

It was handled shockingly by zac and his manager. It could have not gone worse for him. If your gonna go kiss your #1 rivals coach as captain of the EFC, you better have already agreed on a trade between clubs privately and then done the whole trade deadline thing

He is the captain of a huge melbourne club, meeting with the coach of our biggest rival, after previously exploring moves. He deserves every single peice of critisism he cops

He can GAGF. Hope he enjoys the beltings we recieve next year, and i hope the hawks win the flag and he cries on GF day

We wont win it

So i hope they do, trade him after that thinking of back to back, then they never make the 8 again during merretts last years, and we win a flag in the year merrett retires, and the norm smith medallist is the pick we get for merrett

If you’re going to have a grudge someone, then it’s worth doing well…you Sir, have mastered it.

Hoping Hawthorn win a flag is offensive.

Shame on you sir.

I want the same minus them winning the flag…seeing how we’re all wishing for things!!

I’d rather they make the big dance and lose. Trade for Merrett with everyone thinking he is the missing piece. They don’t go close to that again, lose multiple finals with him in the team before dropping out of finals contention.

Then…

Keeping merrett is more offensive

Essendon star and six-time best-and-fairest winner Zach Merrett has moved on from manager Tom Petroro, who was by his side as the failed trade to Hawthorn dominated off-season headlines.

Merrett terminated his arrangement with Petroro on Tuesday, according to two industry sources with knowledge of the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

Those same sources said Merrett was returning to his former manager Nick Gieschen, now of CDG Sports Management alongside Paul Connors.

This masthead has reached out to Petroro, Merrett and Essendon for comment. Gieschen, when contacted, politely declined to comment.
