#7 Zerrett - Welcome to Hotel California

I’d be curious to see of those that voted yes, how many would’ve just accepted whatever the Hawks put up just to see the back of Merrett?

Well well well Zach

If you want to win that premiership looks like you got no choice but to do it with Essendon

Maybe train harder next year. Couldn’t even make All Australian in 2025 you overrated hack

I believe he was bagging Essendon in the hawthorn room. It looked that way. But everyone in that room didn’t back the right horse. They thought they could strong-arm Essendon so I guess you FAFO!

I’m all for hating the Purple but to think he makes up a text on the spot, broadcasts it live. The contents of which is directly in relation to what’s happening on screen, immediately after Potroro is seen madly typing out a text is just conspiracy theory, cooker nonsense.

I’ve been pretty conservative and assumed that the actual final picks will be as follows: 13 (academy), 25 (academy), 18 (Hawks top4 and some academy / NGA) and 30 (Tassie lol) which equals a total of 2960 points.

Comparing this to the Petracca deal - 10, 11, 40, 17 (GC future 1st) and 55 (GC future 3rd) which totals 3598 points minus the points the Dees receive - 27, 31 and 35 (Dees future second) - totals 1300 points. Difference between the Merrett offer and the GC is 662 points which is the equivalent of pick 23 which is in reality much closer to pick 30. So is Merrett worth more than Petracca to the tune of around pick 30? I’d argue he is

Edmund reported Hustwaite OR pick 62 was offered as well in the initial offer and that’s literally worth 0 points lol

Never mind Petroro has conducted himself with impeccable class and integrity throughout this entire fiasco. Easily the biggest loser out of this.

Fascinating to watch a player manager leak to the media in real time.

He’s also the manager of Vozzo and Scott right?

This is a bullshit argument. Points values don’t mean ■■■■ unless you’re matching bids. Picks are only worth the level of likely talent available. The rest is ■■■■■■■ fairy dust.

Yes.
I would have.
I get people think it’s unders, but I doubt we get a similar trade offer next season.
That’s why I’d take the trade.

There is too much downside risk in rejecting that trade.
And given our history, I’m not expecting this to turn out well.
But would love to be surprised by a favorable result.

Petroro is a disgrace

Play as a team, or die as individuals. Hopefully everyone steps up. Maybe it was the elephant in the room that finally can get the club back on track?

■■■■ Hawthorn. What a joke they are.

merrett might be furious with essendon being a basket case and not letting him go but he should be furious with his manager and hawthorn.

I can’t believe he’d be stupid enough initiate this without certain assurances from his manager and hawthorn this would get done.

What hawthorn offered compared to what swans and suns have up for curnow and petracca is laughable.

Essendon was right to turn it down. Yes we’ve got a disgruntled player and yes he’ll probably ask for a trade again next year but I don’t care.

The club has been spineless and rolled over for so long. I hope this is the start of essendon having a ■■■■ you attitude to the league and every other club.

The message that we can’t be ■■■■■■ over anymore is better in the long term than any player we’d have drafted with those picks.

If we’d have rolled over players would be cherry picked from essendon for the next decade.

Now everybody knows essendon will hold their nerve.

I don’t give a ■■■■ if Zach merrett plays reserves all year or for the next 2 years.

For me it’s up to the players. If they are willing to have him back then sure. If not, vfl for you Zach. If this galvanises the playing group then that is brilliant.

One thing is for sure. Zach cannot captain and his legacy will be forever tainted. He’ll never be adored by the essendon fans again no matter what happens from here

As if anyone has never worked with someone who hated their guts or whose guts you hated.

But you still worked with them anyway.

They are professional sportsmen, not the Under 12 suburban plodders.

He is only going to nominate a club that is a chance of success so chances are they won’t have a decent draft hand

Then he can stay and see out the last year of his contract

They’ll have 2x future firsts

Good intel, thanks, I hadn’t heard that. What a ■■■■■■■■.

He and we have 12 month now to work it out, if he wants to go he knows the price and a club that wants will also know the price.

He isn’t leaving cheaply.

Even if its 1 top 5 pick, its better than any offer hawks presented this trade period.

Yes a club will pay it if they are in the window and know the price.
