The trade radio panel thought the same until Purple immediately got a text from him that revealed the opposite.
He was laying it all at EFC door.
This and his comments earlier in the day support the fact he was clearly in HFC camp about how the trade should get done.

I see where you are coming from in a rational critical mind.
However, if we explore from another angle, it was only 1.5 seasons ago we were quite a bit better team than Hawthorn that we were languishing in the bottom 4 looking at 2 -3 more years in rebuild mode.
Teams can turnaround very quickly with the right coach, assistants, support staff, captain and senior leaders and mentors with an influx of young positive newly drafted players with just a few very tactical shrewd trades to plug the holes of the weak links in the team that aren’t necessarily highly credentially superstars.
