#8 Ben Hobbs

Merrett could become a better leader than GAJ.

GAJs leadership was the only poor area of his

He is arguably in the top 5 greatest individual players ever though

How about we just let Ben Hobbs be himself and make his own mark without comparison

When you look at average Brownlow votes, Merrett is likely a good chance to win one.
And would probably say that Selwood was unlucky not too and pendelbury.
Modern day players Bontempelli and Clayton Olliver have been unlucky.
Bontempelli would probably be my favourite to win for 2024.

I’m hoping that in 8 years time, Selwood and GAJ are at a barbecue watching the footy and they start discussing if they were ever as good as this Ben Hobbs feller they’re seeing tear teams a new one, week in week out.

They will likely say ‘yep’ and move on with their day.

fwiw I do really like Hobbs.

man, i wish merrett, parish and caldwell had the size and power of those 3 guys

pendlebury, bont, selwood, oliver - all played in super strnog midfields where the votes got spread around

Parish can’t be like Bartel, he’s no where near good enough above his head, Jimmy could mark anything, Parish and Bartel are fantastic wet weather players, he’s got that in common.

bartel had a really hard defensive edge to his game too.

I can’t see parish being able to shut down an out of control Lenny Hayes after half time in a GF

Our midfield still has a fair way to go to improve to being one of the better midfields.

Hobbs to take a big step this year, though I wonder who gets the big Essington injury to allow him the minutes?

Think about it, Merrett flourished in our suspended year, Parish too and again when Shiel went down.

Sometimes the best thing for a player’s development is opportunity. Which is why an imbalanced list is Caldwell and Hobb’ worst friend.

Is he dead?

Tis just a scratch for young Benjamin.

Another youngster victim to Essendon spongey floors.

Clairvoyant

He’s injured since when?

Uh-oh….
