#8 Ben Hobbs

Wasn’t good.
Because nobody was.
But did some very nice close-in work.

I’m honestly curious as to any argument against playing him and Tsatas at every single CB for the rest of the year.

Would that this were true.
Tsatas, for all the games he’s been denied, has played a shedload more at the ruck’s feet than Hobbs.

Yeah. I know.

Don’t have to go far up this thread to see me criticise him, but I thought he played well.

If he’s going to make it, he’s going to have the biggest preseason of his life

I know it’s by far the most important skill (so it’s a big if) but if only he could kick.

He’d be a potential A grade mid.

Groin injury
Will miss at least one week.

It was finally reaching the point where they’d have no choice but to put him on ball and out he goes.

He is missing a week with groin injury

If I’d just played in that awful game, I’d be missing a week with groin injury, too.

Thought he was ok. Although, a lack of penetration in his kicking, last night.

Usually, he has no problem dobbing them from 65m with ease.

Heard that one before from the club! What are the odds that by the end of the week he’ll need a ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ transplant!!

I’m in the trade camp

I’d like to see him put up for trade to see what other clubs think he’s worth. To me….he’s just a depth player at best…about pick 50 to 60

I was going to post:

I’d work backwards to get the answer

Try absolutely everything to move on Parish (even if we have to pay some of his wage), and Setterfield (he’s ok but his body is a proven liability year on year for his entire career) and Shiel

Then I’d look to see if we are going to get a mid we rate with one of our top ten picks and/or trade period. If we don’t see much on the cards here I’d trade one of he and Tsatas and keep the other. If we saw plenty, I’d move on both

But the more I thought about it, I just don’t really see the upside with him at all. I don’t think he’s good enough or big enough to be your head in the trough clearance pig and if he’s not that then I don’t see him excelling as a mid at AFL level (lack of spread and skill by foot) and he’s not a great half forward option as we already know. So I’d probably trade him regardless.

“The big bodied midfielder we’ve been looking for”.

Dodo dickwittery at its finest…

Most likely especially if he was kicking at a low wall ….

Finally gets some proper midfield time and cops an injury

We know just as much about him now as we did at the start of the season, all because of Brad’s stubborness to stick with his favourites in midfield

I personally don’t get the dislike of Hobbs.

Mostly plays out of position and always has a crack.
Skills can are an issue but where the club is we have very few players who have a crack and also have skills.
