#8 Marty Reppin' Gleeson - no more Marty Party

Rookies no longer need to be upgraded in order to play. Change happened 2 or 3 years ago.

really? where have I been. I swear there was a rookie elevation recently.

Cat-Bs still need to be elevated, but cat A rookies don’t.

Needed to get the chop regardless of contract triggers after he squibbed that contest this year. Ruthless Essendon? I think not.

So is the purpose of putting Glees and Clarke on the rookie list purely to create senior list spots? Nothing really changes in terms of $$ and ability to play seniors?

Yes. Main list spots tight now that numbers reduced

Although in past rookie list players had half salary outside of cap IIRC, not sure if still is

Hopefully they get picked off by another club and we can use rookie selections

Have you ever watched Gleeson play?
He made one freakin move that has all of Blitz calling him a squibb ffs. He is known to go in hard at the risk of his own health and has done so numerous times. FMD you guys are full of ■■■■.

I suspect it’s so we can take 5 rookies and a DFA.

As I’ve pointed out twice already, you said yourself that you’re “very glad” that Marty has been offered a rookie spot, so what’s your problem, pal ?

Stop acting the hard man and trying to be offensive; it doesn’t wash any more than you do. Put your brain in gear, for once in your life, and take out a Club membership, if they’ll have you.

Reminds me of a chat I had to have with LMW when she was about six.
‘Is it always?’
‘Yes.’
"Really? Always?’
‘No, not always.’
‘Is it everyone?’
‘No.’
‘So is it everyone always, or some people sometimes?’
‘Some people sometimes.’
‘You feel a bit better?’
‘Yeah.’

Well, like your child, I exaggerated in annoyance
However - it’s been weeks, now. Gleeson has (may be) been rookied. The mythical legacy that is growing in here about him is not right, and not fair.

I already have renewed my membership for next year…

Apart from the fact that you like Marty and you think it’s the “right thing to do” to keep him around, what are his strengths that he is bringing that you think will help the team next season?

I’m not passionate about it, but I think he’s had a decent crack.
I’m not choosing to live or die on this particular hill.

I agree with you, actually.
Like many other players, injuries can turn careers, or cut them short so that they never reach their potential. That’s not what bothers me. It’s the calls of cowardice by the brave keyboard warriors.

I’m not a fan of that either.
Certainly not on one event (I think just about everyone puts in the short steps at one time or another, whether they’ll admit it or not).
I don’t think he makes a habit of it.
I agree he’s not a great tackler, but very few of our players are.

Takes a squib to know a squib

I didn’t call him a squib. I said he squibbed that particular contest. Off you go.

That a decent year of highlights

geeze a return to this sort of form would be amazing, what’s happened to him over the last 2 years? saad coming into the team maybe pushed him to the backpocket where he was under utilised?
