Cheers for that
I wonder if part of the problem is the huge expectation that everyone - club, players, fans, media - have put on the playing group this year. Itâs as if this season was going to nail the door shut on the saga once and for all, was going to give the players and the fans the massive payoff that all the courage and loyalty over the past few years so richly deserves.
Then things go horribly wrong. Hindsight is always 20/20 and now it seems obvious that we shouldâve stuck with the plan that worked so well at times last year. Anyone who watched Port Adelaide on the weekend could see a team that plays the same exciting game style as we did last yearâŚand we were frequently better at it than them to boot!
Perhaps what is needed now is for the coaching staff to just trust the players a bit more. Let them play their natural game rather than imposing a new plan that has shattered their confidence so badly. I donât knowâŚbut that podcast was just absolutely spot-on. We have to keep supporting the boys, come what may.
