Excuse emotion and short podcast but what else is there to say after yesterday
Agree - which is why my own review of yesterday’s game was less a review and more about what to do next.
Change, of some form, has to happen. And I don’t mean dropping a Mutch, Parish and Laverde.
I mean dropping Baguley-Myers-Goddard and dropping the gameplan.
Completely agree with everything said, we don’t look to have a plan at the moment and Woosha telling the players they should decide how they want to play is a load of rubbish. At some point the coaches have to take responsibility for the way we are playing, the Carlton list is poor and they had some poor players play against us and they also made a lot of mistakes and still beat us.
Agree Scott.
There are so many people in this football dept that carry fancy titles, but we never hear from them, or what they bring to the club.
We need a compete audit of the football dept. Get Sheeds involved.
A lot of questions need to be asked, primarily why was Woosha re_signed for a further 2 years so early.
Followed club for 60 years, never so down as today.
On a positive front sound mixing is spot on.
Lol yes worked on that during the week. Sounding much better
Best podcast I have listened to. Raw emotion, calm concise delivery, 100% correct.
Cheers
So why does the obvious take so long for all these idiots to see? Think I just answered my own question.
I dont agree entirely. Insofar as Game plan. Footy is still an instinctive game, how is it, when a ball is kicked quickly, and is often the case from the centre ball up, or even when it is indiscriminately kicked in long and in a hurry, why then do the opposition players read the flight and get the ball? An our blokes are running toward the goals looking for the cheap easy one?
Is this coaching? Is this game plan? OR is this soft players looking for easy kicks?
What I noticed on Friday night watching the Swans, every time a player takes a mark from their side one of their players runs through close the the player, trying to draw a 50 mtr penalty? And the hawks, every time one of their players takes a mark, they get a plus one near the player on the mark ready to Shepard off if their player plays on. Pretty Basic under 11’s team work.
We need to be a little bit cheeky, sneaky and dare I say it unsociable.
It’s discipline and team work, we have no discipline and no team work. Our players are lazy and dont back each other up, they dont block and Shepard for each other, they dont fly the flag for the team and each other when it is required. It infuriates me .
No matter how bad we have been at times in recent years, we always did these sort of things insticntively.
How many times did we have 2 talls going hard for the same pack mark in the goal square? We spoiled each other time and time again, and then they run the ball away with ease, no tacklers, nothing. Then we dont see any discussion after each time we stuffed this up. Just one tiny example of atrocious play I cant believe I’m seeing that is occurring every week.
There was only 2 players on that ground that showed any leadership yesterday , Smith and McKenna, Smith with his absolute fierce effort and Mckenna with his willingness to be brave , by taking risks and taking on the opposition.
Sad and tough times
Thanks for this, CJ. Once again an excellent podcast.
Cheers mate
The pregnant pauses, the quiver in the voice at one point, I was half expecting him to burst into tears. I found it accurate but uncomfortable listening. I thought the emotion was a bit over the top. I prefer a calm, measured approach (like they usually do).
To be honest I was actually fine but just wanted to speak serious.
Thanks for your passion - i am just numb now and losing the care factor. My two girls (17 and 13) have seen no success at all. Woosha is responsible and review is needed right now. i feel as though we maybe should have folded after the saga. i have had enough because nothing ever changes.
the club doesn’t listen when we support. they only seem to listen when the media starts targeting them, clearly dgaf about what we say. the only way to get the media going is to be absolutely frothing in lunacy to get a spotlight on it.
this is the club that told hird to not show up to the bnf. not from internal pressure but external.
Ok, maybe I’m just used to the way you normally speak and mistook it for something it wasn’t. But I genuinely thought you were gonna cry at one point!
Love your work - you are on my playlist and it makes the morning walks with the pooch much more enjoyable. Keep up your good work!
Cheers. We want to do a VFL theme show next. Bit more fun and future look
Good on ya Scott… I hope EFC listens to you because they know what a great and loyal supporter you are. They can’t dismiss you as an just another angry fan to be completely ignored. It’s hard for us outside the inner sanctum to try to fathom exactly wtf is happening/not happening to produce such insipid performance s … unfortunately I don’t think it’s as simple as 1 thing…
