A little crispy one Garry - The footy media thread

No, they won’t move him on but I wouldn’t be surprised if both he and mgmt realise it’s overkill at the moment and he’s not suited to it. He definitely has a spot and the Sat morning show that he does with Pickers and Hutch is great.

“is great”

Robbo and Kingy both predicting bombers for top 4.

Didn’t Robbo leave SEN in a huff?

Source was the herald sun team preview. Don’t know how to attach.

For those who want more MAFS style titillation, we hear today that Garry Lyon and Mrs Brownless continue to be an item, and its fully out in the open now. Sounds every bit as serious as it was 2 years ago. Christmas family arrangements in the Brownless/Lyon households will be a lot more complicated now.

Are you referring to Diggers’ Deckham-Whateley fanfic?

Imagine how hard that flog Gerard Whately-Caviar would’ve been wanking whilst calling the NFL. ■■■■ him.

Watching Lloydy on Footy Classified. Couldnt agree more with his remark on Paddy McCartin: He is not ready enough for AFL and needs to look at himself and fix whatever it is. He had Riewoldt at the club who is one of the best trainers at the club and has been for a long period.

McCartin needs to lift his training or look at his diet if he wants to have a good career.

Matthew Lloyd was certainly a very good footballer

Was he ever.

Yep. As an commentator/observer on footballers, he definitely makes a very good footballer…

None of the high draft big forwards seem to make much impact in their first 3 or 4 years.

McCartin, Boyd, Schache, H McKay, B McKay, Weideman…you’ve just got to give them time. Joe Daniher could be added in.

Hawkins too.

Hawkins didn’t take 4 years and not make any physical change to his body. He still looks like a plodder.

Hawkins made his debut in 2007 and arguably didn’t come into his own until 2012. His games played and goals kicked for his first 6 years were:

2007 - 9 games 12 goals
2008 - 10 games 13 goals
2009 - 24 games 34 goals and a premiership
2010 - 18 games 21 goals
2011 - 18 games 27 goals and a premiership
2012 - 22 games 62 goals

Winning 2 flags helps - but playing in a good team also should allow for the easier development.

I heard a stat not too long ago and they said key forwards usually go to the elite level in their 6th year. Interestingly Daniher is now in his 6th year.
