A little crispy one Garry - The footy media thread

I should ask him who won.

You’re right, not great.

But when coaches wheel out the same boring monotone clichĂ© ■■■■ every single week (look at our own coach, for example), I wouldn’t bother going either.

No personality and when they offer a rare opinion, they’re either criticised heavily or fined.

Boring.

Hodge isn’t too bad

And I’m shocked that Ralph doesn’t have personalised number plates
but WANK3R was probably taken

It is Emily’s Honda Wagon, so the Wife will not be happy.

I truly don’t understand wanting to bang someone in a toilet. Clearly I lack class.

How’s the handle on the bloke? “Mark Allan @ Marko IS GOD”.

I don’t know that anything could scream absolute, rolled-gold, prize-winning farkwit louder than that?

Maybe because it’s in Sydney? Let’s be realistic and stop pretending they are interested in afl up there

And i doubt any Melbourne media grubs flew up for the game

Yeah but apparently they usually have 6-8 at least

Only have 1 reporter turn up for a press conference is embarrassing for all involved

I haven’t read the article but what planet is Dermie living on these days.

Dermie backs Rex in gender quota rant

HOLD FOR SATURDAY HERALD SUN PIC DESK----Footy legend and Fox Footy commentator Dermott Brereton details his injuries and thoughts on the game for Weekend Cover story. Picture: Alex Coppel.

Footy great Dermott Brereton has weighed in on the Rex Hunt-Daisy Pearce saga, saying Wayne Carey is a superior commentator.

Imo Carey is very close to the worst commentator on air.

Not a patch on Peter’s Mandy or Donegan.

Matthews, Lynch and all of the non-football matey style commentators give him a run for their money.

Matthews is just out of touch and sounds punch drunk. Lynch is punch drunk and constantly breathing heavily on the mic

Edit:
Add Brayshaw, Taylor and Hodge to that list. Brayshaw just talks over the top ■■■■, Taylor barely makes sense and Hodge is borderline illiterate.

Daisy is terrible. She doesn’t gel with the other commentators and often talks about random ■■■■ that isn’t even currently happening.

Just like a Blitz Thread then?

Carey is the perfect example of jobs for the boys. He adds nothing to the coverage. His special comments are extremely poor and he has nothing interesting to say to enhance the broadcast.

To me it seems more like Daisy talks about what’s happening and the boys crew up in the box are talking random nonsense.

I like Hodge and Daisy. As special comments they are superior to the Glasser and Dermie.

Living in Sydney I can tell you that’s not true. Yes the general public isn’t into footy at a crazy like a religion level in Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth, but they do take a passing interest in the Swans in particular. Also the number of kids involved in Auskick is huge. Their is definitely a foothold in the eastern suburbs and north shore. The big loser is Rugby Union.

Carey as a special comments person is fine. He’s a ■■■■ human, but a fine special comments person. He doesn’t stray and is quick to pick up on trends. I quite enjoy him. Hodge is also good. Richo is useless and daisy is just not present at all. By the time she makes her point or finishes making her point, what she’s talking about is already irrelevant to what’s happening. Imo special comments must be done in a timely way otherwise they completely take you out of the game. Maybe it will come with experience for daisy but she’s miles off it imo.

If they had gotten rid of richo and put in daisy that would have made more sense.

Carey was in the box, I believe Daisy is on the boundary still? I think that makes a big difference to the timing and chemistry with the others. Much harder from the boundary.

Lynch did have a great line last week when the ball came to him as a boundary rider and he kicked it back.

“First kick since my second last game”

Not for the first time, the media have manipulated the facts to make a “story” seem more than what it is
