A thread about rain and no other things

We had a thunderstorm with spectacular lightning and 10mm of lovely rain last night.

There’s more coming and not too far away either.

Yes. That’s a bench seat which is usually a few metres from the waters edge.

One book I’ve read set in East Anglia…it was all about the floods, the sluices, the dykes…and, of course, the bells and campanology.

23mm and counting in Portland since 9am. Forecast says 40 - 80mm. :open_mouth: :astonished:

We had “report to grounds” for the 2-day games.

They reported…and immediately abandoned.

We’ve had 16mm in Port Fairy, and expect more tomorrow.

I have a women’s game tomorrow in Panmure…54km away.

I hope they call it off first.

Last time I went to Panmure, we went off 3 overs before end of innings. I was checking the DLS adjustment when the two captains came over and called it off, with the flimsy excuse that lightning had hit a tree just off the ground. It was bucketing so hard, it took over an hour to get home.

57mm in the 24 hours to 9am. The garden is very grateful.

We’ve only had about 35mm, and rain only stopped about 11am.

Cricket was called off fairly late, and I was not looking forward to a fruitless 54km each way drive.
