Adopted from the use of the Macassan traders terms for the Dutch, used in parts of the NT.
i donât know.
did pendlebury understand why he was booâd ?
did ablett ?
did akermanis ?
did Brereton ?
and so on and so on.
do no white people cop abuse ? or is it just less irrelevant if itâs a white bloke ?
is some â â â â mocking beams for not having a father anymore less worthy of being made aware of the absolute depths some people will go to to just you know be â â â â â , black white, yellow or green skinned ?
see thatâs one of the issues. people want to use the issue of people being â â â â â , as a platform to further their own agenda on the issue, and turn it into a race thing. where infact you know what, itâs just people being a â â â â , period.
If someone had of come out and explained to goodes, the booing isnât about your skin colour, itâs about this this and this, and he accepted it would it somehow be less of an issue ?
the broader issue again is, across any social issue, people only want their pov on the issue to be considered as law.
The ant asked tonight, why did people keep booâg him after he came out and thought it was about his race.
and then spent half the night attacking another poster, right or wrong is irrelevant, on essentially the basis that, he didnât like wim or his opinion, so therefore itâs ok to call him a racist, call him everything wrong with this country, and so on and so on, and even threw in, I donât care what he thinks.
is that not the same mentality that you guys are criticizing others for having in relations to goodes ?
forget the backgrounds of ALL other people, and no itâs not a comentary on every aboriginal issue that needs addressing, but is it not the exact same actions of not listening to someones opinion and just continuing on yelling your own POV as loud as possible, because you donât rate the person youâre doing it to, therefore itâs ok because wim is supposedly just a pesky old racist ?
To me, he asked why did people keep booing him, you just exhibited why, itâs human nature, and humans are flawed, hypocritical creatures.
Been following Essendon for over 60 years.
And the booing in the early days was much worse than it is now. It was very much a part of footy culture.
Racism was not even thought about much in those days. Iâm not saying some people werenât racist because I donât know but the booing existed long before todayâs psychology of footy existed.
So what can the fan do to voice their disapproval? Put duck tape over their mouth!
In the trailer above, Goodes disclosed that one parent was aboriginal, the other was Irish/Euro.
I donât really care one way or the other, but in that situation, a person can choose which culture they want to identify with in spite of whatever upbringing they had, although that will be a determinant in large part in a positive or negative sense.
So it seems we have been booing Irish DNA as much as Aboriginal DNA. Does that make any difference? Probably not, because in terms of DNA there is only an infinitessimal difference.
So we cannot have been booing any actual difference in DNA, we must have been booing the difference in cultures? Well surely not that, because there are many indigenous players running around in the AFL and no one boos them so it cannot be a cultural difference. Its not an automatic thing.
But we do boo or criticise people we do not agree with; mainly people who have controversial views . Kennett, Anning, Egg Boy himself, Hansen, Palmer, Kyrios, Tomic. Irving, Trump⌠the list goes on.
I am not saying indigenous people are not treated badly. There are many instances where they are.
I am still waiting to see these documentaries.
I always thought it was âduct tapeâ apparently not

Bullying is an awful thing,so why do the bullied always become the bullies when the power shifts
Power corrupts many of us.
Its not true, not all who have been bullied go on to behave in the same to others but: the ones who do, are often far worse and bully with more tenacity than they were bullied. In other words they take bullying a step further. Go figure.
I watched it unfolding when working in Prisons and its interesting to watch someoneâs confidence grow from standing over someone and forcing them to do something they donât want to do. Human beings are strange creatures.
Not mentioning 1000 other instances doesnât make the one you mention untrue.
You donât do any good labelling someone a racist when theyâre not, simply because they donât conform to your ideal mindset.
If you honestly think @wimmera1 is the problem here, youâre off the mark.
I agree with much of what youâve said on this issue, but being indigenous doesnât equal immunity from reality.
I recognise the behaviour and Iâm comfortable with the label.
Itâs the same behaviour and attitude that has stopped constitutional change, changes to our anthem and flag.
New Zealand is a place where they believe all is equal and they are proud of the Maori heritage. They deep down inside believe they are all equal and it is reflected in every attitude and everything they do.
Dingus I appreciate you telling me Wim is not what I say he is, but again all I hear is a whitefella telling be he is not being racist and all I hear from my Indigenous friends is he and people like him are.
So thanks for the reminder but I know what side of the fence I sit.
Well said
There are some in this thread that even refuse to watch it.
What does that say?
Lol.
IT SAYS RACIST!
@Saucy must be having a quiet little giggle.
Karmaâs a funny old thing.
its says so much more.
Explain why you wouldnât watch it.
I donât owe you any explanation of any kind.
In any case, thereâs no answer I could give that would not end with you calling me racistâŚyetâŚagain, so just get it over with and go back to your bubble.
itâs an opportunity to explain it to me. I wonât say anything.
I am interested, genuinely.
Both docos are well balanced. Both sides presented.
The final qtr doesnât have any interviews or anything. It just presents the events as it unfolds.
It baffles me that anyone who wants to have a better relationships wouldnât watch it. So it leaves me with the only explanation that people donât want to improve these relationships.
So feel free to explain and help me understand.
Iâll feel free to ignore you setting the parameters of the âdiscussion.â
Youâve just said, again with no justification whatsoever, that you recognise the behaviours of my racism, so I simply do not believe even for one second that youâre willing to listen.
Youâre here to judge, wait for your turn to talk, and shout racist with your fingers in your ears.
So go on.
Iâm not. Iâm trying to learn.
Tell me why you wouldnât watch it.
No response form me. Go for it.
Let me say this slowly.
I donât believe you.
I donât respect your integrity on this issue.
I donât seek your approval.
Youâre just some random idiot in the internet shouting racist.
