If you can’t find an accountant of good character to run your accountancy department, you would be better off with a lawyer of good character who wants the job, then a good accountant who couldn’t give a fark or worse - aims to steal from you.
I’m assuming that “Essendon type” is about the team/club that we are aiming to build via a whole of club transformation strategy, not about looking backwards to the glory years and trying to replicate? It’s about making sure there’s alignment between the team and the club they’re playing for? Please say this is about moving forward at a rate of knots.
I somewhat understand peoples contention with “Essendon types” and from the outside we do seem to be a little conservative. That’s just my opinion.
But anyway. Regarding these “Essendon types” can you please consider the club stop saying silly things like “comes from a good family”.
It’s a ridiculous and irresponsible thing for the club to do. We essentially vouch for the character of a family without knowing then truly. Perhaps an occasion may arise where someone is not a “good person” and by trumpeting them we indirectly isolate further a sibling, family member, associate who is actually a victim of said person.
I know it’s a little over the top but the example of the Hawks Footy Mgr whose name evades me is relavant. He was being charged with child sex offense.
Imagine us saying drafted player X comes from a good family meanwhile old mate is a paedophile.
It’s unprofessional (edit: the word unprofessional doesn’t capture what I meant)
On a lighter note if " Essendon types" means Half Back flank with great leadership qualities and potential to play in the midfield then I know exactly what that means.
