Adrian Dodoro - Flankers into Mids since 2000 (Part 2)

That really doesn’t stack up. Just because you love something doesn’t mean you are able look at it objectively.

I don’t think Barham gaslighted anybody. I think Tim came out of the blocks (for good reason) and Barham called him out for it through his very first answer. The reality is, it is fanciful that a president would go on radio and say “oh yeah, football fans are right, he should be sacked.”

FWIW, I think Dodo is gone. There was lots of “defending” from Barham, but the end commentary by Barham confirms everything:

“It may be that they go ‘Adrian is fantastic, he is staying’. That’s partly their decision because they are experts in those areas.

“I am absolutely satisfied that Brad Scott and Crag Vozzo will make all the right decisions to make this football club a successful club.”

Essendon Football Club wish to announce that Adrian Dodoro will not be offered a contract for 2024 and beyond. We thank Adrian for his service over the past 25 years which has seen the club go from powerhouse to laughing stock. We wish Adrian and his partner all the best for the future.

I certainly hope not. But when someone asks you a direct question about a staff member, and you respond with “pfft! you guys have an unhealthy obsession”, youre trying to deflect the conversation or change the direction of where that conversation is going.

Ive been supportive of Dave. But this is the wrong way to address what alot of supporters see as a massive concern for our future. I dont know if the decisions hes making are the right ones, but the fact that hes got the stones to make genuine change is why he gets my support. but i just hope hes not resting on his laurels now and giving this charlatan an out.

Barham was evasive af when pushed to back in Dodoro.

They literally asked him if he thought we had the right man to manage our list and he replied by saying he backs in Vozzo & Scott to make the final call, given their roles/expertise.

His comment re the “unhealthy obsession” was a poor one and writes its own headline, but we already know he isn’t a strong media performer so I’m not getting hung up on it. He clearly isn’t gonna can him on radio (as much as some want him to) but he should’ve done better there.

Sounded to me like Dodoro is on the way out.

I agree with your interpretation. In a direct way, I think he’s on the way out, likely before start of next season or perhaps Xmas. And that his role selecting players this draft / trade period will be very limited with Vozzo and Scott driving list decision making, led by RFK and possibly Merv Keane (?).

I think it’s pretty clear based on what Barham and Vozzo have said the last two weeks what we can expect. For obvious reasons, they’re very tactful and respectful how they communicate it. But read between the lines people and I think it’s actually clear.

If he’d known how to read the room - Truck’s exit wouldn’t have been so messy.
Its interesting that being the ex-head of a media organisation he’s such a poor media performer.

He’s very defensive, lots of closed sentences and seems to lack polish in his communication for the head of a big organisation. Better leave the media to BDB (who is brilliant) and stick to chopping heads.

All this momentum from media seems to be closing the door for Dodoro one would think…Wonder how this might play in terms of behind the scenes talks (if any) with potential trade recruits - would this picture of instability put them off? hope not!

I imagine Scott would be discussing with Dodoro and Vozzo what he thinks the team needs and who can be cut. Dodoro will put together a brief on the upcoming draft and trade period and present it to Scott and Vozzo, if they think hes not following Scotts instructions or is just not doing a good job for whatever reason then they will probably take more control of the draft and Dodoro will be sacked soon after to be replaced at a later date. If they think hes doing well he will be kept.

I still don’t think he’s going to be let go.
There is no indication that his job is up for review. The question wasn’t asked if his job was under review.
David just responded that it is up to Brad and Vozzo but with no real detail that they are reviewing him heavily (short or long term). There’s only been Caroline Wilson reporting that Vozzo is overseeing what Dodoro is doing, but there hasn’t been any club verification of that. It’s just been left to simmer as a fact.

Until I hear it is from someone in the EFC (not the janitor as lovely a person as she might be), I won’t be expecting anything.

I do think Dodoro is on his final chapter. I agree with how you assert the process will work though. I also think RFK will lead the draft program though.

I like what a long time Essendon member who rang up SEN said “ Essendon are good at sales” and he’s right. They’ve been selling us polished turds now for 20+ years and we’re still buying them. I wonder who gets the award for being best Salesman ?

Is it better or worse for ewok to obsess over obsessing or heffsgirl?

Yes he is the head, but the recruiting department isn’t one man, how hard is that to understand? Not rocket science to understand there is more than one person involved.

Whether he’s gone at the end of this trade period or or takes a little while longer, two things very clear, he now has a very tight leash and if we don’t turn the corner in the next 2-4 years, it’s not :dodo:‘a fault, it’s Vozzo’s & BDB’s for accepting him.
