AFL cancels Christmas

Also, and forgive me for rehashing the first chapter of this mini saga (the Hird pay issue) but it just occurred to me that what with the time value of money and the opportunity cost of investment the overall effect of pay coming in the form of a lump sum is a great benefit to Hird. That worked well, AFL, didn't it?
Apologies if that discussion topic is no longer permitted mods please delete this accordingly

Good for Hirdy, not so good for Essendon with a reported trading loss of $3.5 million BEFORE paying Hirdy his $1M. (if I remember correctly)
Really they'd prefer to get Hirdy, but if they can't get him they're happy to get anyone, as long as they're red & black.

Key words have entered my lexicon:
Allegedly
Infraction
Implied
I also like the way the AFL has rewritten contracts law such that if you think of something that you want in a contract, after it is signed, then you can envoke the retrospective 'implied' provision. That is, it's not in the agreement, but you are obligated under the new 'implied' provisions of Vlad law.
Joke.
#givehirdachristmas

My lexicon now includes:
Redacted (as in the blacked-out bits of the charge sheet)
Recuse (as in "Mr Demetriou should recuse himself from the Commission meeting")

*allegedly

Off site Christmas!
Hird attends Black Ops Christmas!
So now the AFL is trying to micromanage the Deed, another case of "we really meant to put into the Deed that Hird couldn't attend Christmas parties but it was an oversight".
How many more "implied" conditions are going to come up over the next 12 months?
AFL is a joke.
#standbyhirdatchristmas

To be held in the dungeon. BYO peptides and Hird will be a secret santa. Oh wait, l guess his ban means he is not allowed to attend the EFC Christmas party either. We better send to AFL a please explain, or better yet Neil Mitchell can ask Vlad to give us the lowdown, l mean if anyone knows the intricacies of these secret Christmas negotiations and deals, it would be Dear Leader, well wouldn't it?

BUT WHAT'S IN THE FRIDGE?!

Hirdy should hold a massive XMAS party at his house the next day and invite everyone.

Is James allowed to attend tomorrow evening's AGM?

just don't put it on Facebook

What's next? remove his parking spot at Etihad or move it to the furthest point from the elevator.

Banned from driving a KIA ?

I meant it as a punishment.

Good one.

Demetriou had to ban him just in case he didn't turn up.

In other news, The EFC just announced a "Hanukkah and Ramadan in December party"

Of course .. part of the multi cultural outreach program.

What happens if Hird doesn't 'come back?

give him 3 days.

No. That's after Easter / ANZAC day.

Lol I'm sure Hird is privately seething. Not.

Niall and his 'Hird Truthers' ... Embarrassing journalism. What does Truthers mean? Is that meant to be an insult? And his comment regarding the payout: "Some saw this as a win for Essendon, which is interesting, given that the club is paying a million in advance ... ". Sorry Jake but how else could it be perceived? Yes it cost a lazy million, but it was a million we wanted to pay James Hird. The AFL was trying to stop us, remember?
Tate's article is unworthy of comment, and the decision by the AFL to prevent Hird from attending the Christmas party is just laughable.
Interesting that a News Ltd journo pushed Fahey on his 'charges coming in February' comment and he admitted it was based on no new information.

The term "truther" refers to people who believe the September 11 WTC attacks were part of a US government conspiracy rather than a genuine terrorist attack. It's an attempt to discredit Hird's supporters as wacko conspiracy theorists which is ironic considering all of The Age's nonsense about chemical laboratories and whatnot.

LEXICON

I know people will howl and curse me, but I think it needs to be said here within the cult of Hird.

Perhaps James should forgo some or all of his extremely high salary during his forced time out.  Given Essendon's extra costs this year- $2m fines, cost of High Performance Centre.  Hird has made more money from football than any other Essendon player.  Hird is partially responsible for this whole mess.  He has other options to earn Gemba etc.

Just saying.

Who's to say he doesn't already contribute financially to the club? Regardless, it's not really our place to say what he should do with the money that is due to him as part of his contract. Plus I think he's probably had a hard enough year without supporters of his own club suggesting he should hand back his pay packet.

Yeah.

Nah.

You can ask him.

‘You know how we said we’d pay your contract if you copped a suspension and didnt take anyone to court…yeah, thanks for that, but…would it be okay if we don’t pay you now?’
