AFL - Terrible Ideas, Too Many Ideas, No Idea…

Let’s hope he loves it over there so much he changes his mind and stays.

Poor Europe.

Somehow we’ll cope.

Is the mid season trade period happening next year did we ever hear? I guess more likely announced about May if the pies/lions/dogs/giants have lost a couple games or key players to injury i guess

NAB AFL Auskickers rejoyce

The first 20 odd pages of the coroners findings are horrible. Shane was really suffering prior to his death.

I think the main thing to take from the coroners findings are:

(1) The AFL may introduce contact training limits pending whether this is supported by medical evidence.

(2) The AFL are trialling fit-for-purpose helmets. They aren’t willing to commit to making them mandatory, but do state that it’s an option if supported by trial data.

(3) The incident between two Port Adelaide players did serve a wake-up call for the AFL. It seems that the way game-day concussions (and head knocks) are managed will become collaborative between club doctors and independent experts. Suggested that where opinions differ, independent experts get final say.

Hmmm, will the umpires finally do some favours for us and not screw us over?

Nah who am I kidding.

Recently retired AFL stars Joel Selwood and Erin Phillips have been added to the league’s football department amid sweeping changes which include a move for umpires to report to a new boss in 2024.

Current umpires boss Dan Richardson has been moved on from the role in a restructure of the department, with former Essendon football boss Josh Mahoney to take over the portfolio with a “head of officiating” to work under him.

The league will carry out a search to fill the new position, while Richardson will become coaching engagement officer and serve as a liaison between AFL and AFLW mentors and the league administration.

So player weights will now no longer be revealed to the public to protect from body shaming.

don’t worry, there’ll still be plenty of photos online so that everyone can have a massive sook over “conditioning”

What a ■■■■■■■ joke.

Yep, the snowflake brigade have won again coz little Tommy isn’t feeling good about this body shape. Why stop at weight? Why not heights as well? It must be embarrassing for the shortest guys to have their height listed and if you are over 200cm maybe you’ll be labelled a tall freak and feel subconscious. I think stats should be removed completely coz it must be embarrassing if you only get a couple of handballs in a game and the world can view your dismal stats.

Why do you care? Getting upset about not knowing a player’s weight seems like something that would bother a snowflake.

It’s something I’ve always been interested to know since a little kid following the footy.

At least I won’t be able to compare myself to current day players, too short to be a league player, definitely too old, (among other things) but I’m heavy enough (probably too heavy)

Weight means jack ■■■■ in terms of ability, skill, strength, speed etc. Clubs are moving away from skinfolds etc to measures that actually affect performance.

Besides all this m as someone who works with people with eating disorders this is a great idea

Yep, the 300 and 400 pound guys can run as fast as the 160 pound guys, clearly weight has nothing to do with speed.

@dons_thru_n_thru - I’ve got some old footy records from the early 90s. Golden age of player weight listings!

The AFL should ban clubs putting filters on photos to make players looked more ripped. That would be a better idea to help with body image and false expectations.
