I dunno. But everyone will move on.
I’m not going to lie, I’ve always enjoyed looking at player statistics and weights to get a more clear picture on match ups, who may win in contests etc, and also to track youngsters putting on weight.
I’d like to know whether players were actually consulted wit to ascertain whether they considered this information being in the public domain to be problematic, or whether they just assumed that it would be better the information was removed?
It bugs me that they have removed player weights for no good reason. I find them interesting. I find lots of random statistics interesting. Whenever the AFL removes information from there website it annoys me. Imo weights should be added to the AFLW and all players should be weighed before round 1 every year to keep them up to date.

Even if some players (male or female) objected to it?
Yes.
What if they refused?
Well just coz one wheel squeaks doesnt meant the whole bike shop gets thrown out.
So what does that actually mean in practical terms?
You would deist any player that requests their weight not be published?
As a 70kg weakling that cannot box, I identify as a prize heavyweight champion.
Now, where’s Tyson Fury? Time for me to sort that p*ssy out.
Seriously?
Yes.
Would you sack the players that request their weight not be published?
I doubt anyone would refuse. This is the kind of nonsense some corporate busybody comes up with, I doubt anyone was actually complaining about there weight being online. If a player does complain then they can request it be taken down and it can just be blank.
No, and not what im saying. Have a good night
Righteo.
I just don’t get the anger on this.
Fair enough.
This is great, with nothing to compare to, I can now consider myself at playing weight for AFL.
Mark Harvey and Brock McLean having both suffered from bulimia nervosa spring to mind (and they’re just the ones who admit to an eating disorder).
Fact is that up to 20% of male and 35% of female professional athletes suffer from disordered eating and anything that can be done to reduce this is a good thing. The AFL has been working with the butterfly foundation with both ex male and female players so this probably didn’t come from no where.
I guess the AFL had to come up with something to get people talking about them while the Australian Open is on.
Approximately 80-85% of individuals diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa are female and 15-20% of people with Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa are male (Hay, Mond, Buttner & Darby, 2008).
You can thank AFLW for bringing this in. Men and women are equal. Rules should apply to both exactly the same. Blah Blah. Forget the facts above which tell you worrying about weight is a far smaller issue with men. There’s probably a couple of players in the competition that would give the slightest ■■■■ and so therefore lets not allow the public to know a key piece of info about their players.
