This is a shocking situation. I have placed it in here as one of the couple was an active AFL goal umpire: Jesse Baird. May they RIP and the cop (ex partner of Baird) who did this rot.
The wowser laws we have in Australia will ensure that this cretin serves nowhere near the punishment he should.

It will be interesting what his jail time is when he eventually gets sentenced. He was on duty and used the police weapon. I hope it adds extra time.

Ummm, do you know what “wowser” means? It describes conservative, usually religious, people who try to prevent other people enjoying themselves with activities they deem immoral.
He absolutely should be executed but barring that I’d settle for life with absolute non parole. And as a copper he can go into general population and test his luck.

A cop in gaol could might be lucky to see out a sentence. He would probably be put in isolation.
Just saw the NRL are proposing a ten team US League.
Can’t help but think of all the NFL College kids that don’t make it and…do what?
Meanwhile we’ve spent two decades on GC, GWS, and now Tasmania.
But apparently more kids are playing Auskick in Queensland now, even though there was already a Brisbane team, so…cool.

Remember when the AFL went into China? The NRL is just 10 years behind. There is no way the NRL will get a toehold let alone a foothold on the US market. Best case they get a few of their very own Mason Cox’s.

They clearly don’t understand American culture if they think the average yank will give a flying ■■■■ about ‘rugby’.
What’s more, having lived in the u.s, there is a resentment for anything British, it’s why they created their own sports and English American language to be as different from the brits as possible, that culture still holds true today funnily enough. A lot of people over there would mock the British to me, when they found out i was Australian, i was actually surprised by their level of dislike for the poms, it’s culturally ingrained.

Dillon and Goyder aren’t exactly ambitious, they are conservative businessmen with little public profile, which is a concern in itself.
Sounds just like a NRL jaunt, bit like our irish series was, all the players just got on the ■■■■…with the NRL sides, good luck keeping them out of mischief.
AFL Clubs get sick of travelling to WA or TAS, doubt they would be that excited about playing regular games over there with the travel.
I want the AFL to try do something in the US, but for a completely different reason.
Use it to leverage some sort of deal with some college teams. They have infinitely better resources than your standard U18s side. Heck, probably even better than the AIS.
Get the top 30 prospects each draft over there on a six month scholarship, training in those programs. Guess it’s complicated with year 12, but something could be worked out.
But you end up with draftees much better prepared for the AFL system.
