FWIW, ABC News in Mackay covered all three games plus last night, with some story to each. Failed to show a ladder or final match-ups at the end of it, though.
Oh yeah they have a conscious almost OTT charter to be balanced in all that they do. Im not abc bashing, i have it on right now!
I do however like my SBS a little more than my ABC. And the national broadcaster would be better i think for moving its national news out of central Sydney.
All things permitting I will be there Sunday arvo, cannot wait. Iāve been to a handful of AFLW games at the Cattery and it is not a friendly place for the oppo - weāll need as many as we can get cheering on the girls. YTG, go Dons!!
They probably just stack all the Geelong supporters in the Reg Hickey Stand to begin with.
Then realise Essendon supporters outnumber them and let them into that stand so that the broadcasting at least picks up a decent crowd.
Anyone remember if Geelong are letting people behind the southern goals ā i.e. allowing movement between the east and west?
Iām happy to be slightly better shaded from the sun and on the interchange bench side, but it seems silly if the teams are roomed on the opposite side to their fans.
Another finalist, Geelong, may be without Kate Darby after she was offered a one-match suspension for rough conduct against Jas Fleming during the Catsā big win over Hawthorn.
Very happy we copped the Cats rather than the Suns. We were no match for GCS when we played them in McKay, they were too big and fast. In fact I reckon theyāll beat the Swans then trouble the top 4 sides.
Having said that the Cats are a handful and will be hard to beat. Theyāve smashed a few teams since we beat them in Warrnambool and they have a good spread of talent. Obviously the Prespakis sorority clash will be a highlight. I wouldnāt be surprised if Nat Wood sics Nanscawen on to Georgie P at the stoppages because NOBODY in the comp tackles better and more quickly in stoppages than Nans.
But the real barometer for the Cats is Chloe Scheer. Sheās been up and down this year and generally when sheās up the Cats win. Their last loss was by 6 points vs the Pies and Chloe was kept to just 3 touches. Weāll need to put some work into her - and I wonder who our best matchup would be. Van Dyke? Gamble? Iād be interested to hear thoughts from DJR, Caty Lio and other AFLW pundits on this site.
