AFLW - game 11 vs FCFC @ Pissy Park, 7:15pm Saturday 2 November 2024

Assume:

  • Saints lose to the Bears – they can no longer make finals, because our draw with the Tiggers has us up 6 points now.
  • Cats beat Adelaide at home – they get to 5.5 wins like us now, and have a much better percentage. In that case we have to draw or beat FCFC. More likely, Adelaide win and they’re not a threat. Their game is 24 hours before ours.
  • Dees beat Pies. Pretty safe assumption. A draw against FCFC is almost certainly enough to hold them out on percentage (they’d need to beat the Pies by something like 85-10). Note that they play six hours before us, so if they massacre the Pies we know our target.

So to be in finals we likely only need a draw… and let’s be blunt, FCFC are ■■■■.

  • We can move up to seventh (only) if Port lose to GWS at home. I’m gonna say not likely.
  • So our first finals opponent is 5th or 6th, and host us.
  • Adelaide and the Bears have huge percentage leads on Freo, Richmond, and Port.
  • Above and relevant to us: Cats vs Crows, Saints vs Bears, Freo vs Dogs, Tiggers vs Hawks, Port vs GWS.
  • The only results in significant doubt are the Crows and Tiggers/Hawks.

So if Freo and Port win, this is the result (we play fifth):

Winners 5th 6th
Crows+Hawks Freo Port
Crows+Tiggers Port Rich
Cats+Hawks Freo Port
Cats+Tiggers Freo Rich
  • If Freo somehow lose, the Tiggers can get to fifth by beating the Hawks – and likely play us.
  • If Port somehow lose, we can move up to 7th – and likely play the Tiggers.
  • If both of them lose (and these are the last two games of the H&A)… mind blown, we finish seventh and get Freo.

Most likely, have to wait till the death just to know who we are playing, let along what day.

Not going to count my Fark Carlton’s before they hatch but hopefully results go our way to get a Victorian final.

It’s been quite a few weeks without a lot of FarkCarltons will be a perfect time to let some more out

Why wait?

Fark Carlton!

They’re currently trailing the team on the bottom of the ladder, with 7.5 minutes left.

Busiest (and most-un-contrasty) 21:

Gamble and Keaney set to play games #50

Honorary mention also to new Tiwi Bomber Sarah D’Arcy, also on the perch of 50… but perhaps less likely.

  1. Read “Dyke” before “van”, panicked.
  2. Yeah, but which season?

Probably impossible to tell as it is chook lotto as to when the 2025 season starts. Knowing the AFL they’ll start it during Christmas because fark you.

Unless they have a distinct change of mind, it’s pretty clear from their planted stories that it’s going to start earlier (as soon as late July/early August?)

Yet to be seen how that can be used to additionally ruin the VFLW.

Mind you, more recently they’ve also been running the “everybody loves footy six days a week” ■■■■, which they wouldn’t need in the early start scenario.

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
Jess Dal Pos Calf Test
Yasmin Duursma Wrist 1 week
Erone Fitzpatrick ACL Inactive
Maddy Hendrie Foot Season
Brooke Vickers Hamstring Season

Vescio listed as recovered from concussion, and this week stated “I hate EFC”.

Not sure how “test” her calf is.

The below is only a partial list of her games played. Was one of the few stars Darebin had when they were rubbish.

FARK CARLTON

In: D.Vescio, J.Dal Pos
Out: A.Velardo (omitted), K.Skepper (Injured)

ESSENDON

In: M.Dyke
Out: S.Wales (knee)

The AFL have only belatedly put up the changes; no positions or emergencies.

Luckily the stats nerds are on it, and amazingly the teams are not sorted by jumper numbers!

Dyke named on the wing, Alexander as ruck.

Hopefully a big day for Maddy with a big FARK CARLTON on top.

Beautiful weather for it.
