AFLW - game 6 vs Swans @ EJ WHITTEN, 7:15pm WEDNESDAY 2 October 2024

Our wins were against slightly better opposition, and even when we were horrid we did better than them versus the Saints (our only common opponent).

Perhaps more importantly, immediate form falls our way.

We went unchanged today, but you’d have to think there will be changes in the upcoming two games (5 day break then not even a 4 day break due to night game into day game).

Gough and Toogood are listed as two weeks (not games) away.

vanDeHeuvel might be an out, too.

The uninjured players who might rotate though are:

  • Adams (yes please)
  • Sheridan
  • Williamson
  • Dyke (we’re gone one ruck the last two weeks)
  • van Dyke
  • Busch

Here’s the busiest 21, noting that not all are available (no Molloy, no Ham tonight, potentially no Morphett). For us, vanDeHeuvel is a query.

Hitting Sim in the face has karma outcomes!

Obvious change was obvious: vanDeHeuvel out, Adams in.

Emergencies: Busch, Dyke, Williamson

Gamble named at fullback…

Maddy Collier to be on the footy field with* Essendon for the first time since 2019. She replaces Bullas.

*against

Ham does not return, and Morphett is gorn.

Some very bad but also some very good news in here. VDH out for the season  but Toogood and Gough could be back for game 2 this week! And Brown next week

“High grade two PCL strain”, for those not clicking through.

PCL injuries are graded on a scale of I-III.

  • Grade I (partial tear) - 1-5mm posterior translation. Tibia remains anterior to femoral condyles.

  • Grade II (complete isolated) – 6-10mm posterior tibial translation. A complete tear of PCL without another injury. Anterior tibia flush with femoral condyles.

  • Grade III (complete PCL with combined capsular and/or Ligamentous injury) - > 10mm posterior tibial translation. Tibia posterior to femoral condyles which may indicate a concomitant capsuloligamentous injury.

Big loss from our backline. I thought she was having a great year to that point. I think we have a player there (I’m probably saying this to folks who already rated her!). Real shame.

Jacques suspension upheld.

Probably Williamson in for her, but I guess any of the three emergencies are feasible replacements.

I’d say Adams was the pretty perfect like-for-like for Jacques, so you’re looking for a vanDeHeuvel replacement.

(Or possibly ruck support for Wales who is otherwise doing 3 solo games in 9 days.)

Busch it is

Looking forward to seeing how Busch goes. Hopefully plays that pressure role that Kodi’s been doing lately.

@theDJR Brooke Sheridan is an awesome player that has nice skills and knows where the goals are, not sure why she isn’t getting a crack ?

Sheridan got limited time versus the Hawks in the first practice game (there was notably more than 5 on the bench), and did absolutely nothing with it.

I have zero knowledge on her other than that.
